You disassembled the Building department. Fired Bob- mega experience. In my opinion, harass Jim into resigning by one of your, in my opinion, thugs. You put a guy with an art degree in charge as Comissioner. You promote a gardener/ handyman to a Supervisor. You take the last experienced inspector and you cut his hours. You are up to something Domingo?

Exactly!

The truth is - the Building Department Supervisor can not read blueprints, does not know the Building Codes and has no experience in the building trades (handyman services do not count). Yet he is responsible for the safety of all buildings in Blue Island. This is a disaster just waiting to happen. Good job, BIIP. You sure are saving a lot of money.......but at what expense?

Nearly every department has the same problem, Terry Sullivan, has the needed credential, however the NEW CITY ATTORNEY; brings with her a CONFLICT OF INTEREST. city council meeting minutes are not transparent as required by law. The building department is in shambles, the police department has no qualified chief in place. The city finances are a train wreck; it is 2013 line item audits are necessary. Hiring unqualified friends and family, replacing one conflict of interest with another will get Blue Island NO WHERE.
Indeed; THIS IS A DISASTER LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO HAPPEN; in Blue Island. Receivership would be the best route; because the BIIPS are unwilling or unable to take appropriate steps to protect Blue Island, its assets, the people, or the public.

When municipalities states and companies go bankrupt pensions are not guaranteed and disappear, if there is no money pensions can not be paid. Look at Michigan and Detroit.
Laying people off (paying for their unemployment/under employment) then hiring more unqualified people at a higher salary will never reduce the bottom line. It remains unwise to replace experianced credentialed people with the unqualified. The bottom line remains the number that still must be reduced. You can not hire higher and ever expect to reduce the bottom line.

Indeed the unemployed and under employed qualify for unemployment. The City of Blue Island has to pay for unemployment. Why would anyone think paying unemployment and hiring higher can ever possibly reduce the bottom line? Where does all of that money come from? Tax dollars from taxpayers; while the City of Blue Island's elected officials allow Bi to slip further into the abyss.

I find it interesting that you are assuming this poster is uneducated. Are you part of an elitist group in town that only respects those who have formal educations? BIIP the only with brains? Obviously NOT! If you were an erudite then you would understand, as most employers do, that the IDES sets the rate that you pay for unemployment compensation tax. Now, genius will your rate go up or down with the recent layoffs? You guys really are dumb!

You know who. Now, you're trying to lie and convince everyone who reads Topix that there were no layoffs. Do you think that we are dumb and our thoughts can be easily swayed. Now go do more damage control with the pro- tem telling us not to get our cars towed. Losers!
