First of all, there were many new hires so I don't know what tree Bilotto has been sleeping under. But more hilarious is watching Bilotto act so shocked about the financial problems when he was mostly responsible for it. He was City TREASURER for the past 4 years when all of this went down! CITY TREASURER! And Vargas was Mayor Pro Tem! But they knew nothing? Give me a break!
The treasurer's reports were prepared, completed, reviewed, and read by someone else.
Vargas was unaware.

If he was so unaware of what was going on, he should have stood up at a Council meeting and stated that information was being withheld from him. He is a liar! The entire city would have seen and heard him, the papers would have reported on it. This guy knew how to advance himself and his agenda. He is disgracing our city.

Since our City Treasurer claims that he was unaware of our finances, let's continue the termination of positions with his. I'm sure John Rita can do the job.

With the unsolved death of Mr. Carlos Salgado. The Bilotos understood, they must compromise the taxpayers, in order to save their own skin. They do not belong in any elected position of trust. This is why you cannot get a honest answer from any of them.

They should be investigated at the school district they work at.

Was it Don's fault that John Rita Jr. was given a 90,000.00 a year job.
Why did you not promote a current police officer to chief, a salary increase would have cost the city less. Look at the camera and the public when you address us .
First layoff should be Rita.
The P.D. needs a front desk clerk fool.
1st, if Rita is director of public safety at $90,000 a year, then eliminate both deputy chiefs from the Police and Fire Dept. Rita is getting paid to manage both. The P.D. has an administrative Sgt. who can be Rita's yes man, the F.D. has Lieutenants who can be yes men. Why pay those two clowns to be deputy/assistant chiefs. Then, do we really need a director of constituent services? Terry Sullivan retired as city attorney and returned to a newly created job, then there is the new city attorney,Raines, is she the city attorney or is Terry Sullivan or Cary Horvath ? anybody know why both of them are still around? And, the mayor runs the city, so explain to me why we needed Mike Anastasia as city manager for years and now his son??? How many other non-essential jobs are hidden from the public?? Who pays those people from the brownfields ? they have offices upstairs at city hall. What about "Mainstreet Blue Island" ? does that still exist too? I used to clean city hall and saw all of those offices. How about Mary Poulson? does she still have an office? as entertainment director or something like that? How much are we paying her? It's a shell game. They hire one person for a non-essential job, then replace them, while moving the original person to a different position that is newly created and so on. I'm not an attorney, but can't anybody see the brazen patronage and disregard for common sense and the law??? Oh, right Cornell is running the Police department. His head is so far up Bobby and John Ritas' rear ends that he looks like one of Jeff Dunhams puppets, Walter, peanut, Achmed, and introducing "Cornball". See him Live on York St. daily as he gets his instructions from the Calumet Township building. Wake up Blue Island ! Oh, and now they are paying ESDA director ? They were always free, most volunteers were borderline , but it didn't cost us anything, and provided a little comic relief at times. I've watched this city go from a great place to live to somewhere I wouldn't advise anyone to even travel through. Wake up before it is too late Blue Island!

That , my friend , is just the tip of the iceberg. If I had the power to break through the political B.S, such as Anita Alvarez, Tom Dart, and maybe even the F.B.I do, I could show and tell all, but, complaining to them and the state inspectors' general, has not worked so far, and even if I could fill a book with information on these corrupt (B.I.)individuals, they have the political connections to make it go away. They are clearly flaunting the fact that they can get away with just about anything they want. Who are you going to call that they are not connected to in some way ?? They have ruined lives, bankrupted the city, and done so much worse to individuals that I personally know, and as far as Metra cop Gary Carr, yes, he worked for Blue Island P.D., is friends with the former chief (Hoglund) but also works as a licensed private investigator, and he hangs around the township office you say ?? I'm guessing, he may have a client there who has hired him to dig up dirt on any opponents, or anyone who doesen't tow the line, but that is just my personal opinion.I don't know him so, I can't say he's one of THEM,but Yep, their roots run deep in B.I. Keep up the good work Chris

This is the problem. Well said. You cannot even call and report the corruption because the corruption goes all the way to the top.

The reason why things are the way they are is because you have 2 very big reasons.
1/ The previous administration left a mess. Allot of that mess was committed by some left over employees that Vargas let keep their jobs until the 90 day grace period was over. These hold overs who thought they still had pull over Vargas because they thought the Peloquin/Greenwood alliance would help them against Vargas..it didn't.
2/ You have know-nothing community activists in this town who commit stupid acts. Vote fraud by CASA during the last election which hurt their credibility is one example. Other's have skeletons in their closets they rather not have exposed.
So they only push the envelope so far. And you have individuals who proclaim how much they care when in fact they too have something to hide so they draw a line for themselves they will not cross. It's understandable.

So in essence each side negates the other. Thats why this town is in such a mess. Ying for a Yang as I see it.

Who approved the appointment of John Rita to Public Safety Director? It certainly didn't happen the same night as the rest of the department head appointments. Who approved this? And his salary? What is his job description?

Better yet, who was responsible for putting pipe dreaming Berry in as Bldg Commissioner. His 101 level power point presentation at the Council meeting was ludicrous. He could do more for the city if he personally bought some real estate here instead of wasting tax dollars on salaries pursuing projects that rarely materialize.

This is hilarious. As an avid biker, who frequents the Plank trail I had to laugh at Berry's suggestion that having a bike trail here would bring in $30 for every person who uses the trail. Those of us who bike the Plank turn back west just south of Frankfort. It gets pretty creepy south of there. Most bikers are young and we bring our own drinks and gels with us. Seriously, I live here and will not use the trail here. Some creepy people hang out around here. Certainly wouldn't let my kids on the trail here. We'll just keep going to the Plank.

Shuttered businesses, vacant homes, closed bridges, deteriorating streets, corrupt administration. But let's give Mr. Berry a round of applause for getting us rain barrels! Blue Island is on the move! Who ya crappin?

Amazing how the sound on the Council mtg video never went out during Berry's silly presentation. Yet, all of the citizens addressing the mayor were not heard due to poor audio quality. Also, Mayor don't talk to us in an authoritative tone. We don't respect you, so tone it down and hang your head in shame while addressing us.
