Was it Don's fault that John Rita Jr. was given a 90,000.00 a year job.
Why did you not promote a current police officer to chief, a salary increase would have cost the city less. Look at the camera and the public when you address us .
First layoff should be Rita.
The P.D. needs a front desk clerk fool.

We need to terminate good, honest people who need the income to accommodate John Rita's huge salary. Hey, you try getting by on three pensions.

It took six months of hirings to have Blue Island teetering on the brink of disaster. The new administration must be so proud.

One of the people holding a new city job is John Rita Jr., the son of former Mayor John Rita and brother of state Rep. Robert Rita (D-Blue Island). Rita Jr., a former lieutenant in the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, is the public works director at a salary of “about $90,000 a year,” according to Vargas.

After Vargas read his statement at the council meeting, Ald. Christine Buckner-Cheatle (1st) said,“Many of us were in office when these decisions were made. We voted on these things. It’s time to stop blaming the previous administration for everything and move on.”

Alderman Chrisitne Buckner-Cheatle there is no previous administration! This administration is just a continuation of the old administration! Business as Usual

Alderman Christine Bucker-Cheatle was in on golfing. We would have to start at Bar par. She thinks the previous administration would be there.

Their sink hole is growing as a direct result of their own poor decisions.

The Vargas administration has demonstrated a total disregard for the law and the legal system.

City Treasurer Carmine Bilotto denied any new hiring, saying new positions were filled by people already on staff and only their titles changed.
First of all, there were many new hires so I don't know what tree Bilotto has been sleeping under. But more hilarious is watching Bilotto act so shocked about the financial problems when he was mostly responsible for it. He was City TREASURER for the past 4 years when all of this went down! CITY TREASURER! And Vargas was Mayor Pro Tem! But they knew nothing? Give me a break!

The Residents of Blue Island should treat the Bilotto Family with the same respect they show us! They have not told the truth about the financial mismanagement of this city. They have not told the truth about JAWA water that continues to cost us money. They have not told the truth about the death of Carlos Salgado. They are a rude despicable lot.
