Yesterday my husband and I walked into the Burbank Laundromat (5323 W. 79th Street) with my 1 year old grandson. Upon entering the door, the owner or worker (not sure) told us to read the sign, read the sign. My husband and I looked at each other rather confused and read the sign which read "Parents keep children in stroller". We told him we didn't have a stroller and questioned whether he was going to let us do our laundry there. He nastily replied ok, but you watch him okay. I told the gentleman that my grandson is just a baby and of course I was going to watch him. We put our laundry in the machines and after the clothes washed, he then told me to use the 2 machines he was pointing to. Keep in mind there were no other customers in that laundromat. I started to separate my husband's work shirts from the pants in the dryer and he started yelling at me and pointing to another sign. I told him my clothes would not dry thoroughly using only one dryer for his work clothes the other I put some throw pillows in. He said no no, I told you two dryers and 30 minutes dry only. Needless to say I was shocked to see this man so nasty and mean to prevent me from using another dryer. By the way, the sign does not in any way indicated there is a 30 minute limit nor does it read that you can only use a certain amount of dryers. I was just so upset I put my stuff in the dryers and sat down until my clothes finished drying. When they finished drying, the work clothes were damp and my pillows were still damp as well. When I told him that if he would have allowed me to use a couple of additional dryers my stuff would have dried better. He said No No, I told you only two dryers. If you want to dry more better, then put in more money. I told him I would not give him any more of my money and that if he were a nicer person perhaps his laundromat would have more customers. He continued to rant indicating that he didn't need any more customers and that he was a nice person (which he definitely was not). My point in all of this is that the city of Burbank might want to talk to business owners that deal with customers on a daily basis because that gentleman did not know how to treat people nor did he care if he was a nasty person. I will never go there again, and I would suggest anyone with children not go there as well.

Hello Phyllis,
You didn't even need to post the address or type of business and I would know who you're referring to. The guy has very serious issues, and it isn't just about having children. I go there alone and he gives me a bad time. I can only use certain machines, you can't use the change machine, he has to hand it to you. The guy follows you around, watches through the window and eats in the back. It's very uncomfortable and creepy. I would bring my boyfriend with me so I could be left alone. If he gives you change for more than you need he insists you sell the quarters back to him because they, "are important".
Since I am about a block away, its so close, however, I only go there when I am desperate.
He is terrible, since I believe he is the owner of the laundromat and home behind it (you can see him in the yard watching at times), doubt there is much anyone can do. Indeed, he is kind of scary.

ladies he is the owner and that door leads to his house. I havent been there since he knocked down his old house and had the house/laundry mat built. he is a nut case, He stalks eveyone that goes in there. and tells them what size machine and which one to use. I am amazed he has any customers anymore. thank god I have a washer and dryer in my home now. but if I didn't I sure would not go to his place.

I refuse to go there too. He is aweful!!! The best thing to do is refer all of your friends to go elsewhere. When I had to go to a laundromat, I used the one on 79th and Oak Park. There is a sweet elderly lady there who is as helpful as she can be. It's clean and they DO NOT TURN HEAT OFF TO WATER AND DRYERS as the nasty man does!!!!

For those without time to spend, you can drop off your laundry there and they'll do it for you.

Ask Mr Nasty what happened to his grandson....you think he was nasty before, watch out!!!

This place is the worst! The old man just stands there watching you like he's some hawk eye. Then he bursts out the machines have stopped when you are standing right in the front of machine. I must also say that it seems to me he turns off the heat for the dryers as it almost took four quarters to dry some of clothes. After the third quarter, I refused to feed the dryers anymore money, and just left.

Beware of the old grumpy hawkeye man. I would try and avoid this place for your safety and his.

You know what is the funny part about all you people who came there, is that eventually you come back. I have been washing my clothes there for years and have seen many fights break out there. And whats funny is that you people keeping coming back. Instead of bothering him and toying with him, which I definitely know you do...listen too him especially the women as you may learn how to wash your clothes better.
I really like that place even though he may be grumpy, but he is the cleaniest place in all of chicagoland...guaranteed.

For all you people that do have time to post these ridiculous comments, there is something terribly wrong with you people. And i can be sure you are all women.
For anyone who hasnt gone there...though he may be a jerk at times, he is a very helpful and educated man.

Go there, you just might have fun doing laundry.

That guy is not the owner, he is just some senile old man that wanders down 79th street and likes yelling at people in the laundromat.

Ridiculous comments? Are you out of your mind? Anyone who stands there, and tells you what you can and cannot do is obviously in need of help. The old man sounds like a sick creep. Women should not go there ever alone. Take a man with you that will tell him to mind his own !#*#}{##$%

OMG! I was there once and only once!! He is the owner and he is insane. He tried to tell me how to separate my clothes and how many machines I should use. I looked him straight in the eye and told him that if he wanted my business to stay out of my business or I would walk out.

He huffed and puffed. He also tried to say something about our loads to my 2 little girls who were sitting quietly playing their video games. I told him to stay away from them and talk to me if necessary.

He is completely crazy and that is why his place is always empty. I wonder how he stays in business. What a creep!

the old man is a fuking weirdo. I went in there and he told me i was using cheap soap and that i should buy his instead. He has issues and I believe his stupid laundromat/house NEEDS to be closed down or we should complain to the city about his bad service. We all know this man is crazy and for that, we need to close his place down.....and what happened to his grandson?

Wow after reading all your comments, no wonder you people give bad reputations to business owners. I have been going to that same place for 10 years and though he has his moments at times, I like going there cuz the place is clean and orderly. Plus the guy doesnt bother me at all. I actually know how to do laundry his way lol

I made a complaint today with the city of Burbank and the BBB, the city of Burbank knew exactly who he is because of all the complaints. Everyone who is insulted by this man needs to make a complaint. He repeatedly called me lazy and all woman lazy because I wanted to use his drop off service for my comforter and declined when he wanted to charge my $15.00. He's a miserable Polish pric who needs to move back to Poland.
