Suggestion--All of you whiners reach in your pockets and personally pay for the 4th of July celebration. It's goofy that when the city has streets crumbling away, abandoned homes, unemployed citizens, empty storefronts, businesses leaving town that anyone thinks it's a good idea to blow tax money on a parade.

Clark needed to be closed too many epa violations, period see http://www.city-data.com/city/Blue-Island-Ill...
Parades, fireworks, and holiday celebrations have always been personally paid for by taxpayers in each and every community through out the United States. The crumbling streets, budget, state of affairs, fiscal responsibility, and over all health of the municipality are a direct reflection of the mayor led city council.
By the way, what do they blow Blue Island's tax money on?

"By the way, what do they blow Blue Island's tax money on?"
Basic services like schools, which are still better than the surrounding communities.
Oh, and to all the sunshine patriots who want to watch parades: How many members of your family are in the all-volunteer army? No individual sacrifice but taxes must pay for a parade. Grow up, already since this will be year three of no parade and outraged citizens have still done nothing.

Read your property tax bill, school taxes are separate from municipal taxes.
In my family, Grandfathers, father, uncles, cousins, brother, nephews all served in the army, navy, air force, and marines.
What are they blowing our Blue Island tax dollars on?

Panem et Circenses
Since it's separate,it's not a part of your property tax? If there was a municipal 'circus' tax for parades would that seem more honest when what we need is 'bread'? Now who is being obtuse?

So go ask 'em. Info is available through city hall and if you're not satisfied, file a FOIA request. Better yet go to our public library and ask for the information. You have a question and you pay people who can answer the question. Repeating it over and over again won't get you an answer.

It has already been established the public library does not have the information.

We do not need "bread" we need accountability, fiscal responsibility, integrity, trustworthy, reliable, level headed representatives. Then we would not be foxes to listen to excuses.

Where was this established? Did you talk to a reference librarian or a clerk? Not all the folks there are librarians. Not much of a library if a city library can't get city information and I don't believe you.

The mayor and council have made conscious decisions to repeatedly work against the best interest of the residents, taxpayers, and public as evidenced by their bad body language, video tapes, and written record that reflects the way the council members vote.

This reply indicates that you've made no effort to find the answer to your own questions but are just another whiner.

Answers to most questions can be found http://www.city-data.com/city/Blue-Island-Ill... and by attending meetings where you can see for yourself; the mayor and council make conscious decisions to repeatedly work against the best interest of the residents, taxpayers, and public as evidenced by their bad body language, video tapes (on Comcast or ATT), and written record that reflects the way the council members vote.
By the way; you can email, call, or go to the library and request information for yourself to confirm the library does not have it to provide.
You can also FOIA for yourself and read how tax dollars are distributed, wasted, dispersed.
