A poll has been taken, the results show that the majority of 28th district residents do not like Bobby Rita. He has spent to much time outside the district. The 28th has been terribly neglected. He and his triple dipping, while many residents in his district have no job, and live in poverty.
The Truth is, Alderman Vierya could be a great State Rep for the 28th District. The district is very tired of Bobby Rita, and his desire to expand the Gaming licenses in Illinois. "Viva Vierya"
If she does, could you post how we can help and where we can send financial support for her campaign.

Domestic violence victim advocates: Cop culture must change
BY DIANA NOVAK Staff Reporter March 22, 2014
According to Chicago Police Department data, there were 35 domestic-related murders in the city in 2012, out of more than 500 total homicides.
As of data through June 2013, the Police Department had 24,405 reported domestic incidents and investigated 12 murders related to domestic violence, putting the city on track to match 2012’s total and approach the high for the past decade.
But these numbers don’t adequately capture the lasting effects even witnessing domestic violence can have on a child. Domestic violence experts say a violent home life is often the root cause of issues related to gun violence, gang involvement, substance abuse, sexual abuse and more. The media has covered the thin spread of police resources when it comes to the gun violence epidemic, but a task force that held domestic abusers accountable could have both an immediate effect on crime in the home and a long-term effect on crimes that branch from it.
The Alliance of Local Service Organizations, a CeaseFire-affiliated group based out of the Near West Side, requires its outreach workers and violence interrupters to attend 40 hours of Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network-led trainings to improve their response to gun and gang violence.
Lori Crowder, executive director of the alliance, said much gang violence begins with “micro-aggressions”— two men fighting over a girl, a girl dating across gang lines, a family divided between gangs.
“It looks like gang violence, but you have to dig a little deeper,” Crowder said.
Gabrielle is still alive.
But she’s convinced her case will only get the attention of detectives when she’s dead.
Gabrielle, who asked that her last name be withheld, is consumed with fear her ex-boyfriend’s threats will turn violent. For much of the past year, since the first time she called police, she’s been acutely aware of strangers walking near her as she goes to work, sleeping with a golf club in her bedroom and, now, carrying a wrinkled copy of her order of protection in her left back pocket.
Domestic battery accounted for almost 45,000 of more than 120,000 domestic disturbance 911 calls to the Chicago Police Department in 2013.
On Thursday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced his domestic violence task force’s creation of a pilot program to drill down on cases that pose a high risk of homicide and said an updated domestic violence training has been given to recently promoted sergeants and lieutenants.
Emanuel announced the formation of the task force late last year, a sign that he was paying attention to a problem members of the state’s attorney’s office, the Department of Family and Support Services and the police department had been meeting to discuss for a long time. Twelve people from these groups and victim’s advocacy organizations meet monthly as the task force develops the pilot program and redesigns training for all police officers, an update that domestic violence victims and their advocates say is long overdue.
But the renewed emphasis comes after years of declining attention within CPD to domestic violence.
Relations between police and victims have been at a particularly low point during the past seven years, said Dawn Dalton, the executive director of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network.(Dalton left the network on Friday after taking a position with another organization.) The domestic violence unit originally was led by a police sergeant; now the unit is part of the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy and led by CAPS Deputy Director Sandra Wortham, who is not a police officer.

Bobby really has never had any competition. This will be his first! He has a terrible voting record to defend, raising state income taxes, increasing taxes, increasing electric and gas rates, etc, etc, it never ends. Plus he treats people terrible. He has a certain reputation that must be used to defeat him. He has no business to be a state rep.

Eliminate legislature veto-proof majority

On March 20 political editor Mike Riopell had two informative articles in the Daily Herald. In the last paragraph of the one on expensive campaigns, I found a point that needs greater emphasis.

Mr. Riopell stated “in the long march toward November, Rauner could use his fortune to help candidates for statehouse seats as his party fights for increased relevancy at an Illinois Capital controlled by Democrats.”

The Democrats currently have a veto-proof majority in the General Assembly. If this is maintained in November, as seems likely, the victor in the race for governor is somewhat irrelevant. The legislators will mostly do what their two leaders tell them to do.

Irrespective of whom I choose in the race for governor, I cannot vote for any Democratic candidate for the state legislature. To do so would be a de facto vote for Speaker Mike Madigan. His control in Springfield must be diminished in my view.

One way to accomplish this is the elimination of his veto proof majority. As we approach the polls in November I encourage all voters to consider this issue as they make their choices for seats in the state legislature.

What did he do? Last I checked he was the only state rep bringing $ from grants into Blue Island.

The other rep, Monique Davis has done NOTHING and could care less about Blue Island. Toxic Topic people are always so quick to sling mud with zero facts.

You talk about the voters putting the same deadbeats back into office and you vote for Vargas.

As we have learned career politicians spend much of their time campaigning, looking for campaign donations, very little time working for the public, tell the public what they think they want to hear, spend much time trying to cover their own tracks, stuffing their own pockets, use politically correct catch phrases to stay in office, getting jobs for family and supporters.

Where's the grant money from Rita and how was it actually spent? Did the grant money go to a no bid contract? Was the work completed according to any practical specifications or ordinance?

Term limits are needed and necessary.

We take exception to your statement slinging mud. We back our statements with facts. We believe he failed us in Springfield, and he has failed us here in the 28th district. Blue Island is becoming another Harvey, and fast. But it is o k to the Rita's with their multiple pensions and double dipping, and NO SHOW jobs. The corruption that exists here is just to much. This was recently brought out by channel 7 Chuck Goudie. And the BGA.

He has done nothing for Blue Island but place his brother in a position to hire an extremely large amount of inexperienced, part time, familt friend, city employees. He holds multiple positions and dies not do his job. Partying, golfing, womanizing, vacationing...well you get the picture.

53 lawmakers didn't vote for Illinois pension reform. Is yours on the list?
Bottom line: If your lawmaker voted "No," he or she voted to leave unsalvaged the miserable train wreck of state finances.

Attorney Mayor Vargas is the previous administration! This he can not deny. He might try to distant himself but, his Rubber Stamp vote of 22 years is spot on.
