We dont need a full time fire department. Look around people. Several towns in our area rum more calls and provide just as good as service as does CRFD oh and a couple of the towns actually run more calls. So ho we can they do it and we can not? It would save us a lot of money. We don't need full time firefighters.
Your problem is that you are viewing one of the the most stressful professions the same way that you would evaluate the cashier at 7-11. The key part you dropped out is that Chicago Ridge has an asset that those other towns do not have. WE have Professional Firefighters who happen to be understaffed and under equipped. What for generations the men that we thought were heroes, you want to demean and debase. When our Insurance rating falls and your policy becomes more expensive maybe you will get my drift. Let's hope the stiffs from Crestwood, and North Palos. can get here in time when you need them because our one team was taking an ambulance call from the Chicago Ridge Mall.

Do any of our fremen live in town? Do any of them have part time firemen where they live? I bet not.

When they are on duty the firemen do Live here. 50-60 hours a week. That is more than Trustee Mike Davies spends here during a week. We are not trying to fire him are we?

There was a federal lawsuit filed this month by,former Village of Oak Lawn employee and reports say that it provides a look into the minds of Oak Lawn village officials and the dirty politics in that village. Every decision that they make in that town is made based on politics rather than what is in the best interest of Oak Lawn's residents. Why did the Chicago Ridge Village Board vote to go into business with Oak Lawn? Does our Mayor think that those Oak Lawn officials will treat him better than they treat each other? Wait until things go KaBoom.

None of our firemen live in town but I bet the towns they do live in do not have part time firement or paramedics. How silly would it be to fight against part time in the Ridge to save money when you have the same thing where you live?

Do we have 30 firefighter- paramedics that already live in Chicago Ridge to take over for these 13 career firefighter-paramedics that serve us now or isn't that part of your plan? Do you want to show us up by finding minimum wage thrill-seekers? Nice Try. We don't have time anymore to admire babies in adult bodies who get what they want by throwing their weight around.

Try the Goose pate a**. Name a town that doesn't have part-time fireman paramedics...except Oak Lawn. CRFD and CRPD negotiated that residency boundary years ago. Too Bad So Sad. And it stops at the state line. Now you hired a chief AND have a trustee who live out of town and out of state. CRFD members are in residence for 50-60 hours a per week. If you get rid of them Jack and you hire 30 FF/PMs to replace them are you going to let them live out of town or outside the boundaries or even out of state?

We DO have several firemen that live out of town in towns that DO have part-time fire and ambulance service. How dare they promote that our village will be unsafe without full time fire personnel. Are their families unsafe? The village is not looking to disband our current fire personnel. They have made it very clear that they want to work with our current staff to come to something both sides can live with before our current staff out prices themselves. They should make more of an effort to work with our village to keep their jobs. Ironic that this is a contract year.

Just to be clear, None of our full-time Fire Department lives in Chicago RIdge. ALL of the towns where they do reside have part time firemen, paramedics or private service.

Any firefighter or police officer should have the right to live wherever the want. Especially if they work for a community like CR. Anyone who criticizes the fact that they choose to live elsewhere has no clue whatsoever about the nature of the work they perform on a daily basis. If you don't understand what I am referring to; my response would be "exactly". And your response should be; thank you for your service.

Clearly you are uninformed. Thousands of ambulance runs every year where they meet people in the worst situations imaginable. Saving lives, giving aid and getting people to hospitals. They are the battleground medics Topix poster. You will be happy that they are the ones coming through your door some day. If there not enough fires in the village to make you happy you can thank them for that also. The CRFD is responsible for Fire Inspections too. They make sure that all new structures and commercial properties are fire-safe. If you are lucky enough to have a child in Village Schools, ask them if they have ever attended a class with the Firemen. Their workdays are full. But then I think you are full of **** anyway. Why don't you just say we should close the library because you don't like to read or do away with the playgrounds or the fieldhouse because you don't need them? We need these guys.

CRFD has one crew on duty every day. That means any FD with 2 or more crews on duty during would potentially make more runs. None of those towns pay their mayor 115K. Put that in perspective. Lets drop the CR Mayor's salary to the other village levels...or lower because we are only a small village. What do the mayors in the Villages that our firefighters make? In CR we overpay our Mayor and Demonize the working man.

Hey guy! Big Time Winners are in it to win it. At the one of a kind Campain office we have this old fashioned computer thing. It is what we used to design all of our sighns and plan out our voter shenanigans. It connects to the World Wide Web. If you look at the screen after you type in scamming mayor.org it comes right up after you put his name. Easy sparky.

Supporting public safety is the right thing to do. Currently the Mayor says that is what he wants to do. Many residents don’t seem sure that he means that. This uncertainty has generated friction and reduced the efficiency of all of the Village employees and certainly of the CRFD. This is not “all union stuff.”Somebody needs to listen up pretty soon.
