I just so happen to work for buds and I wish midlo all the best in future endeavors with the ambo district. But as for the "Cabrini green" medics I happen to also work for another fire department and they've had no complaints from any of the care/services rendered or my attitude. If you think that were all like that you sir/madam are very mistaken.

It appears by the multiple posts that bob doesn't like a lot of stuff, can do anybody's job better than they can and most likely fits the acronym f.i.g. j.a.m. (f--k I'm great, just ask me)

Midlo don't hate anyone from Buds. It's just that we thought and need an Abulance that can transport right away and make the money for the Village ourselves. Not to mention the Parameds we now employ and don't want to lose to another town.

Agree with the post above. No one on Midlo Fire has anything bad to say about Buds. A good transition and there have been nothing but kind comments and well wishes from the crews at Buds on transitioning.

I happen to be a firefighter/paramedic and their is nothing wrong with using a private ambulance service if they know what they are doing and are highly trained. Buds ambulance is a good company, i started my career there on a BLS ambulance, they arent perfect but what company is? They are better than superior ambulance and Kurtz EMS thats for sure. Their doing something right to have all of those contracts. Talking bad about them when truth is some of them are better than some of the medics i worked with in the field whom work for fire departments. At the end of the day guys we are all first responders and get paid to save live. I dont give a damn if you work for a fire department or private ambulance company. when seconds count, who cares

I think the folks that work for Buds are trashy. I really hope I dont need an ambulance any time soon. Something about them just rubs me the wrong way, I dont know if its the way the carry themselves or seeing them parked in the back of empty parking lots with there feet up in the windows smoking cigs. It could just be me or maybe they just do to many drugs, or maybe I do?
I currently work as a paramedic for a different company. Keep in mind that despite handling numerous 911 contracts private ambulance companies do not have quarters like a municipal department. We spend 12 and 24 hour shifts on the ambulances. Occasionally we do get some down time where we do tend to stretch out and sometimes that may "put our feet up in the windows" and some of us do smoke. We're human too and not without our faults. Ask yourself if you could sit on an ambulance as long as we do. Also intrigued about your accusation of drug use.

Did a little checking, turns out the village pays Buds $36000 plus per year to have ambulances available to be on scene within 6 minutes of the call.
Sounds like a reasonable amount of time to respond? Well let me tell you the big problem. On Saturday the 20th of this month it close to 15 minutes to get them to the scene on the west side of town.
In that 15 minutes wait for our contracted ambulance unfortunately the village resident passed on. If our Fire Department would be allowed to transport the resident would have had been transported ASAP they may have still been with us. Later on Saturday night there was another incident on the East side of town. The private ambulance assigned to this area was tied up on a call in Robbins. Again the private company dispatched a unit from out of the area.Luckly the ambulance that was tied up in Robbins cleared their call and responded to Midlothian.
The private ambulance company that Midlothian has a contract with, also covers the towns of Robbins, Markham, Harvey,Pheonix. It has been who calls first gets the unit kept in the area. Everybody else has to wait for them to get another unit free.
My question is Why won't Midlothian vote on letting our Fire Department Transport to local Hospitals. I've been told it is a money issue. Mainly the village doesn't have it. One of the residents has offered to cover the start up costs. The village board keeps looking the other way. They are either to proud or to stupid to let this happen
I am a medic for a private that handles municipal 911 contracts. I would surmise that your town (midlothian) cannot afford the insurance required to operate ALS. It's way more cost effective to contract out to a private.

EJB don't resurrect a dead conversation. Only a couple of trolls were picking on the private ambulance so not worth defending yourself against them anyway. Midlothian has been up and running as a fire-based EMS service for a while now and while their relationship with the private ambulance served the needs of the community for many years...those times have changed and they have chosen to provide for their residents differently these days.

Stay safe out there.
