Sad to say but the blue island little league is ran so unprofessional. I have put my son in the league for the last five years, my husband and my self have volunteer our time and it has not even been appreciated. then they wounder why they have less kids signing up when baseball season begins. I now know why most of the kids from blue island are signing up for other neighboring little leagues! This will also be our last year with the league.
Please explain

Cecilia jurado: this is the first time i herd your name I have given my time in the league for at least 10 years Its people like you have just volunteer for field clean up and work your requarment to get your family fee back instead of joiniug the board and realy helping out. You have all the complaints and they should do it this way or that way. every year its just a fist full of board members doing all the work behide the scene. registration, try out puting the teams together, finding choachs, keeping our field groomed, dumping trash after games, parade, end of the year picnic pictures. Should I go on you havent seen half the work that has to be done just to run this league. So please dont bad mouth our league until you can say you done all that. We ask if any one wants to join and we never get new help. You may have had a bad year but this the first time you Complained what about the first 4 years did you have any input. (I DONT THINK SO)

Dear 10 year member, first of all my husband and i dont just do what is needed to get back our family fee.$75.oo for us is nothing. I work the concession stand every year when its our teams week to open and close. I leave work early that entire week, missng 1 to 2 hrs. of work all the way from ohare to do that. my husband has coached all these years, missing hours from work and at times days from work to coach and have practice with the kids. So dont say we only do what needs to be done to recive our fee back. I would like to know when you come after the games to empty the garbage and clean up because i never see any one doing that when we have been there. As for putting the teams toghther, yeah okay may be the should start being fair with picking the kids. As for keeping the fields clean, please have you really seen them lately, how crappy they look. My be you should go visit the fields at merrionette park. As for this being a bad year, yes it has but its not the first. I didnt even want my son returing to the league this year, but my husband said why pay and dedicate our time some where else if were from blue island. But nex year i rather pay more and have my son play for another league.A league that listens to the issues going on and helps solve the issuses before they get out of hand, as they did this year. Its a shame that we had 10 kids on our team that most of them will not be returning next year because the parents were not happy with the league. My husaband and i have even bought helmets and bats for our kids because the equipment tha is provided needs to be upgraded. I put my son in base ball to play and have fun to have good sportsmen ship, unlike others that. As for never had hearing my name or knowing my name, i would defiantly like to meet you on july 21st at the picnic, hope to see you soon.
Enjoy your weekend, sincerly cecilia Jurado

I guess Blue Island LL is still running the same. I took my son to another league years ago and glad I did!! It is sad because I would like for him to play for his hometown but its impossible with the people running it, they are very unprofessional, and its so political.
See you today

This year 2014 the coaches for ridge auto are not even in uniform at the games. They don't even look like coaches they look homeless. One is always in pajama pants. What a loser. This week both the coaches missed the game. maybe they were out getting drunk.

They still have little league? Thought they phased it out for Mexican wrestling classes and spear chucking. Ha. No but seriously. They do?

I think we should rename the baseball field " formerly known as westside" to Don Peloquin Field.

With all do respect but this response from a long time board member shows it all! If a 10 year member can't appreciate those who give even 10 min of their time doesn't deserve to be a board member!!! By thinking that those who get their money back don't give anything you are showing your ignorance. Giving parent their money back is an incentive that many parks and sports leagues use to get coaches. First of all if you payed a for the work these people do at a rate of minimum wage, you would be paying much more. So you are proving Cecilia's point that the league is full of ingrates.

Lawmakers are throwing money at a Puerto Rican Cultural Center, a Little League in Blue Island, new windows for a Chicago church, unspecified library programs, state fairground improvements and on and on more than 1,000 pages of projects, most of which are funded through borrowing, and then paid back with various taxes and fees. No, much of this money doesn't come from the operating budget. But guess who pays the taxes and fees. And guess who will have to keep paying high income taxes if lawmakers make their 2011 increases permanent.

I agree ridge auto coaches do not dress in uniform, but i also know that you cant judge a book by its cover! Coaches have many practices and make all games. They dedicate there time to an organization that is not even organized. Coaches are working with a team that has 8 kids, which not all can make practices and games, so is that what anyone would call a team? I dont think so! They struggle game to game trying to get kids from other B.I. teams just so they can play! I do not see anyone from the board stepping up to help them, they are on there own! But they sure are quick to take our money! This is also my last year with B.I. another loss to B.I. and every parent deserves their money back for all the time wasted!

I began playing in Blue Island back in 1972 when the town had two full leagues for the East & West sides. Back then there were no family fees and the Mothers usually worked the concession stands. Yes, they had board memebers and coaches who actually taught the game and were not babysitters. After every final game, both teams Parents (usually Fathers) hit the field with rakes, collecting the bases as the players and kids walked around picking up the garbage. There was pride and responsibility shown by Parents & players alike. Today you're lucky to get a coach to volunteer and you HAVE to charge a family fee just to get the dead beat Parents to help out. It's sad to see the attitudes on some of these kids that don't want to listen when being coached, This is not just B.I. but all towns with sports programs that I see this. You think the registration fee you pay that the league is getting rich? Uniforms & equipment, league fees, insurance and umpire fees eat most if not all of the registration money. Fund raisers & concessions is where a league can try to make any money to have in reserve in case of a major expendature. When I played, you knew you weren't starting a game if you missed a practice unexcused but the kids back then were interested, had heart AND had someone responsible at home to make sure we went. We actually as kids would say "Thank You" to our coaches as we left the field knowing they didn't HAVE to be there. It's easy to blame the board or a coach if you've never volunteered for a season. I know all Parents work but if you are there watching a game, what is stopping these people from walking around picking up garbage with their player after each game instead of driving off?
