Blue Island has an old sewer system shared sanitary and rain runoff. The city will not be able to afford a new sewer system without federal or state funding which is unlikely to occur for a long time. This is an issue with other municipalities on the southside. Not just BI. You are flooding because of climate change. Best to get yourself an overhead sewer ($5-6k) and protect your property.

When I want to communicate with my friends we do it in person or on the phone. Is this a glimpse into the Allan Stevo Carol Di Pace Green friendship? Just vibe off each other's crazy? You each have 3-5 different monikers and just get all goofy and post complete nonsense?
What a lovely friendship. Please keep up the good work

Why don't they just install a big handle on the side of the hill the island is on and flush it? BI is a toilet. I just crapped myself. Got any loosies or some spare change?

Keep working on it, pal. We'll see how long it takes you to get it. When you do, your award will be your very own "BIIP" bumper sticker.

The leaf pick up is designed to protect the over burdened sewers. The water department will have to triple duty to keep up with sewer cleaning, water main and sewer repairs.
It's about time to do away with the leaf vac. It's a waste of money and man power since the garbage men will take if leaves are bagged or in a can marked yard waste. Alot of residents would rake their leaves out into the street causing an extra burden on our sewers let alone taking up parking spots. When we rake our property, we also rake along our curb and street so it's not that much of a hassle to bag them. The garbage men take our grass clipping bags so, Sell the vacs and put the employees to work on more important tasks.

Put your yard waste directly into garbage can. If you PAY ATTENTION and watch the garbage man the yard waste and regular garbage are not separated. They go in the same truck!

Larry, the point is that when they implement changes like this, the burden and expenses are transferred to the taxpayers. You may be ok with that however, I am not. Especially, when "City Manager" John Rita uses our tax dollars instead for hiring friends and family and securing his $92,000 per year salary. A salary that is paid for neither being a Police Chief, Superintendent of Puic Works, Water Department Supervisor or Building Commissioner. He has no experience in any of those areas. He has dissected and placed inexperienced personnel in those positions. Why? Because, he is using Blue Island for his own personal agenda. And, you're ok with that?

A federal racketeering law, known as RICO, is designed to attack dangerous criminal organizations; that powerful tool can go after these criminal individuals and activities.
