I believe it was the Homestead. Also if I'm not mistaken, Durbins which is located in Midlothian, Tinley Park and a few other suburbs have their Rib recipe.

WW1, You are right on the restaurant in Blue Island, that was definitely the Homestead and the ribs were excellent. But the ribs which are serverd at all of the Durbins's locations (including Midlothian) are the recipe from the Branding Iron, which was an Oak Lawn institution for years.

I have been looking for the name of an old Italian Restaurant. I was last there in the 70's and then it closed. In Chicago, south side maybe Englewood? You had to make reservations because they served 6 course meals and it took hours to eat there. It was around for a long time. I think the name ended in ----ini's? Like Cavalini? but it was not Cavalini's. It's been racking my brain for a while. Thanks.

Yes you are right. After a few drinks sitting around the table last night we figured it out. Thanks anyway.

Thanks Nancy, but as Old News pointed out last August, they already figured out the answer in 09. It's not Chucks although Chuck's does make a mean Sage Chicken.

Chuck's is fantastic. Been going there since it opened. If you go and the have the pork tacos with the habanero lime salsa as a special I highly recommend it. He and Rick Bayless from Frontera Grill are good friends and some of his Mexican recipes are from Frontera Grill.

I remember the branding iron. Great Ribs. Didn't they use to give you little donut holes too? I remember going there in the late 70's.
