Holy crap, I remember almost all of those (except the Hooks drug stores - but I do remember Dekovens and Cavetts!)

I played on the Wildcat team that won a bowl game in 1973 and wound up ranked 7th in the country!

Didn't there used to be a little lake or pond that was filled in by the train tracks in the forest preserve? Say, back in the late 60's early 70's?

Dog and Suds root beer was at 148th and Pulaski. I beleive the batting cages were at 148th and Kedzie when it was Egges putt and stuff. But yes I do remember most of those things as well. Awesome cheese and carmel corn over on Cicero. How about Corsis bar. And the old Carousel Tavern 147th and Homan. Tragedy there one Halloween night. Mr Fleck from Bremen used to work at the Discount records. Gravel guma and pop rocks from the trick shop. 1983 grad of Bremen. Old midlo was great.

How about Chicken Unlimited and Arthur Treater's Fish & Chips. Also, Bubs Daddy's gum from any of the concession stands! Besides Motto's, don't forget about the A&P that used to be attached to Dekoven's. A&P had a fast pitch square spray painted on the outside of the building courtisy of a couple of "Joe's" from the "K" streets

No kidding! I was just up there earlier and commented to my Wife that I sure hope a Good Grocery store goes up at 147th and Cicero. I know prices are high on a lot of things but they get crazy.

The same Freddie Bear that's in Tinley Park? I remember the sports store but couldn't remember the name.
I do remember though back when A&P was where Sav a Lot is and next door to there was an empty store front and a few times a month, they used to show cartoons and short films in there for the kids to have something to do. I think it may have cost 10 cents to get in. It didn't last long though.

I believe the owner's son's name was Ken Wahl or Wohl? His TV show was Wiseguy, and was in the movie Fort Apache the Bronx with Paul Newman. He was a Bremen grad

Anyone remember when the commuter parking lot on Abbotsford and 147th was a grass field, outlined by telephone poles laid on the ground. And there was a gas station on that corner as well, that gave away drinking glasses for some reason. How about Hansens barbershop. I remember the thrill of playing for the first time under the lights at Howies field on Homan.
