According to the City of Blue Island website, the water bills were goofed up and the proper amount to be paid was in the penalty charges box. My elderly neighbor didn’t know that. If he pays the wrong amount, is he going to be hit up late with fees or get his water turned off? He shouldn’t because he because he didn’t make this mess, city hall did.

Our elected leaders need to impose 60 day moratorium on all late fees and water turn offs. If the city can’t get its water/sewer bills straight, then it shouldn’t be turning off the taxpayer’s water or hitting people up with heavy fees. Every household in Blue Island deserves a letter from the city with a clear explanation of what has been paid and what is owed. This letter should be in both English and Spanish.

If Rita/Vargas administration won’t do it then Tom Dart’s office needs to be called because the politicians in our city shouldn’t profit off their own mistakes.

Actually, since they billed the inappropriate amount you are only required to pay what is due. You have a bill to prove it. They really screwed up on this one. BIIP bozo's!
Grossly Negligent

They need that dollar amount to make payroll.
The city has used water monies for years to pay police/fire salaries.
Regular amount due is lower than it should be.No way to meet payroll, this is why officials have tried to get everyone to pay the late charge fee.

Some of the bills are significantly off, and folks would have to be filling several swimming pools and flooding entire wards.
