There is are two plaques outside of the front door to Village Hall, off to the left you might want to look at the next time you're at the Hall.
The first one is a dedication made to Mayor Harry Raday and Trustee John Hall by Dr. Sidney L. DeLove of Independence Hall in honor of Midlothian being the Original Village of Lighted Flags on January 30, 1970.
The other plaque contains a reprint of content from Dr. DeLove's radio show on 104.3 in the 50's "Know your History Hour."
Dr. DeLove, a former member of the United States Army during World War II, was well-known throughout the Chicagoland area for his passion about the American Flag, amongst other topics, including the teaching of American History in the classrooms.
He even went so far as to host essay contests through various local papers open to high school students hoping to win a scholarship and Loyola University to this day issues a Sidney L. DeLove Scholarship to a deserving high school student with limited financial means.

We should really thank Raday for all the apartment buildings we got in this town that was a great idea.
