Yes they do. Follow my other posts and you will see why. If someone has any objections to this (like the person "really") I'd be more than happy to explain why.

Every town needs a fire department and EMS.... Just depends if you want to pay alot for it, or pay a little and do what TP does.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

What do you want to pay for?

Quit stirring the pot, and mail in your tax payment.

You have got to be the most ignorant person to this situation that there is. Tinley Fire is a FIRE DEPT. Not a Fire Protection District. This means they get the majority of their money from sales tax and businesses and such. Protection districts acquire money from property taxes. The same thing you are probably complaining about. And if you are in Manhattan, you know that your taxes are high and I apologize. You have a Fire Protection District.

Obviously you have never been on the receiving end of Trace Paramedic care. They may be paramedics.. but the thing is, is that only 2 paramedics, 1 ambulance, show up to the scene when you need them. The fire department does not come with them at all. If you were to call 911 for your obese wife who had troubles breathing, 2 people would show up. And then have to call for help. The goal in EMS is HIGHEST care possible and quickly. So them calling for help just delays the current situation even more. Most fire departments that have an EMS division dispatch an ambulance and the engine follows with them for extra manpower. Which simply translates to... HIGHEST CARE POSSIBLE!!!!

The Tinley Fire Dept is not required to have EMT's or Paramedics. Just an OSFM Fire Certificate. So let's say there is a car accident, and your wife isn't breathing, or your daughter.. The trace paramedics have to pick which one they will work on until help arrives. However, an EMS fire department could start care immediately on each pt at the same time since all personnel dispatched are properly trained to the highest level.

I am, in no way at all, disrespecting the Tinley Park Fire Department, nor any of it's members. It's a fine organization and they have their sh*t together when it comes to battling the red dragon.

I am however aiming this at Mayor Zabrocki because he knows d*mn well this town is growing, and needs a full time fire department with their own ambulances. Because if he wasn't embarassed of this... 3 years ago or however long it was... There was a village sticker with a POLICE CAR, FIRE ENGINE, and an ambulance. An UNMARKED ambulance. He had the nerve to remove the TRACE logo off of the ambulance. This is proof he doesn't want the residents of our fine town to smarten up and realize that we need EMS as part of our fire department.

I don't care if Tinley stays part time, goes full time union, or even contracts their paramedics thru a differeny agency. I WANT to see Tinley Park Fire Department Ambulances in all 4 of their stations ready to rock n roll at a moments notice. Not some medic sitting in Volunteer Park parking lot contemplating whether he should cheat on his wife and sleep with his attractive partner in the back of the ambulance.

And so "shut up" with that being said.. I want to pay for the HIGHEST LEVEL OF CARE possible!!!!!!! Not the half @$$ way.

Amendment to my last post...

Fire Departments also take money from your property tax, but it is ZABROCKI who decides how much to give to the Fire Department.

Another point to consider is that if Tinley Park provides their own EMS service, they have the ability to "bill". this is a way to generate funds to help run/maintain the service.

Most insurance companies will cover the cost of EMS service. I have seen where there will be rates for residents, non-residents, vehicule accidents and so on.

I happen to work for Trace that last comment was uncalled for, immature and uneducated. Also let's say we do need to come pick up you're OBESE wife, our dispatchers get this information and dispatch more than one crew if needed. They are trained to handle those situations like we are. There are a lot of good Paramedics working for Trace trying to get on fire departments somewhere. Get your facts straight before you go on a rant without any actual back up

Exactly. Trying to get on a fire department.... Meaning you don't devote 100 percent of your skills to the task at hand because your worried about oral interviews and testing for UNION fire departments. Good luck kid you'll get on one day

I too work for Trace. Believe me thats the last thing on someones mind. Some people enjoy working on an ambulance and are happy where they are now. Some, not all, move on too fire departments. The reason they are on the privates is too gain experience instead of sitting on a license for several years and then procede to get on a fire department. Your getting the same amount of care as you would be with a fire department, if not more. Continuing education is huge with Trace and expect it too be done monthly.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. If your presented with someone whos in medical need, my oral interview or testing for FD's is the last thing on my mind. Whos to say the medic on the fire department doesnt have his mind on the FAE exam or lieutenants exam? it can go both ways.. but regardless, that's absurd.

Do you realize how much money it would take to start a fire dept? Personnel, equipment, vehicles???? Not in this economy.

I'd rather have an ice cream truck staffed properly than a bunch of part time scabs putting in less effort cuz they're tired from their full time career jobs.

I am sure they are also tired at their full time career jobs because they choose to work part time jobs to help support their families. Works both ways bud!
