A Blue Island man accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl in Calumet Park was ordered held without bond on Wednesday. Police found him smoking a cigarette in a closet after the alleged crime.

State's Attorney's Office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton said Demetrio Campbell, 27, tried to lure the victim and her older sister away from their home while they were playing outside on Sunday. The girls refused, ran inside and locked the doors.

Witnesses said they saw Campbell cross the street and kick the door in, after failed attempts to get the girls to let him in. Prosecutors said the suspect demanded one of the two older people in the house to leave the bedroom that person was the one who called the cops.

Campbell allegedly raped the 4-year-old girl on the bed. Police found him smoking in a closet when they arrived. Judge Edward Bowden ordered Campbell the suspect to undergo psychiatric evaluation at the Markham courthouse on Wednesday.

Campbell has also been convicted of felony burglary and aggravated robbery in the past.

No, the police are mostly excellent but there is something fishy here with the adults. Is it a drug deal where the child was part of the package? There are some sick people in this world...

This story does not add up AT ALL! It is something fishy with the story!!!! Why didn't these older adults call the police when he was knocking at the damn door saying let me in??? That's the 1st question.Shouldn't someone had been on the phone calling the police before he so called broke the door down!! Those adults need to be tried as well with neglect! Why were those children outside without being attended by an adult??? Who let's there children play outside alone! And when the older girl came in the house so called I'm sure she notified these adults! What kind of adults were they? I.swear this article ANGERS ME SO MUCH! Its not descriptive. Posting this man all over the news and without evidence...without concrete evidence... this should be a crime! Exposing people for doing stuff that no one knows completely if he actually did such a thing! Story don't make sense AT ALL!!!! Where's the details!!!

Blame the victim, not the criminal, I don't think so. I say this is an animal that needs to be put down.

Don't worry, out liberal system will rehabilitate him. When he gets out of prison early, the system will prop him up with free health insurance, cell phone, public aid and free education. Then he will become a productive member of society.

The assault happened @ 123rd & Elizabeth. The CPPD are literally around the corner on Throop. A call to the police in CP is answered within 3 minutes. I would not be surprised if DCFS is either involved or investigating the family now. Like I wrote, something is fishy.
