i have the best memories of dick and doras .as a child in the 60s, i went there with my parents. my favorite table was in that small nook with a table of 4 in the front. i used to pretend it was our special table. we Always started with baked clams and soaked up the wine and garlic sauce with awesome bread. we had a table of 10 in 2008, a family get together with family we havent seen in a long time.the food was hubby and i went a couple of times in 2009 for early bird specials , also great. budget tight havent been out to dinner in quite awhile. while driving around today cause i had to drive with that dumb engine light turned off to get the car inspected, i went up and down blocks i havent seen in ages . dick and doras was gone. how sad.but very nice memories.

This is so bizarre; the place was never sold to other owners; it stayed in the family. As far as the culinary school, the son went to the Culinary Institute of America; one of the best culinary schools in the world. Some loser is saying all this negative stuff has some agenda. I went to D&D for 20 years and always had great food, great service, and never saw a dirty dish or any sign of anything bad. Great restaurant; Miss you guys !!
I agree great place great food . Even worked there for awhile ...

Joe Hydrusko ran it in the 1950's until around the 80's (his death). Like my father, Joe was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. When he owned it the restaurant was great and the pizza was the best in the area.

You remember what I remember. It wasn't just that we were all young, the place was advanced.

Dick & Dora's had the best pizza in the late 1960's. My brother would bring home a pie every night he worked there.

I have the best memories there as a kid going out with my family to DIck and Dora's we always got the same waitress who was Doris nearly 30 yrs ago and we later ended up going to her house on a regular basis to swim and enjoy. They had all these paintings of disney characters it was a great memory and Dick and Doras has the best clams casino. If it fell to the wayside i wouldnt know but it was disappointing to hear that when i decided to look them up they closed not but 6 months ago ... timing huh?

Hey Lance, Happy to see that you remember the good days. The awesome waitress was my mom, Doris. My mom passed away October 2016, in Coral Springs Fl. I'm sitting here missing her and I thought I would do a little research on the restaurant that she LOVED working for 22 plus years. Surprisingly... I found your note. So sweet and comforting. She always enjoyed making people happy. Thank you so much !!! God Bless

The Best NY cheese pizza 1969. My girlfriend and I would eat the whole pie! with cold beer of course. Earlier I remember Alhambra beach probably 62' a little too much gas and motor oil but good things do not always last.

Mom and I would stop at Dick and Dora's on our way home from Jones Beach back to Irvington (NY). This was in the 70s and it was a wonderful place. Glad I will remember it as it was and not what it apparently turned into.

My my. this makes me sad. I worked there for a few years until 1995. Behind the scenes, I can tell you the place was on the up and up. Clean establishment and fresh food, the menu was planned with care and I had my babysitter bring my children for dinner often while I worked. I was saddened to learn it had closed and the owners sentenced. i wish them the best.
