Dix Hills has no affordable housing.
Dix Hills has no public social agency facilities at all. About the only real public facility is a pool.

Were it not for Wheatley Heights, it is doubtful that there would be any dark skinned minorities in this nimbiest of nimby hell holes.

Since Dix Hills has been able to buy its way out of social responsibility, I say; burn it all down and start over.

You wouldn't want to live with individuals such as these anyway. No great loss if we run them all off Long Island.

I don't understand the idea that every community needs to have affordable housing. LI has plenty of affordable housing, it is just that nobody wants to live there. I believe that police, education, economic & civic resources should be directed to areas that are affordable rather than mandate a formulated mix of affordability onto communities and developers.

These condo sprawls are not affordable housing. They are overpriced and a poor value densely packed living space of which there are far too many in Suffolk County
Affordable housing is a different issue and cannot effectively be resolved by any government that does not wish to go into public housing. It makes great politics though.

Dude: Get a grip! it's only some town on some part of LI, how could you possibly harbor such ill feelings and contempt for some town? I highly recommend counseling, maybe anger management counseling would be better. BTW, Dix Hills has many areas which are just plain old middle class, Check the MLS under Dix Hills, you'll find houses starting in the low $400's, which in case you haven't noticed is middle-middle class affordable. BTW there are plenty of group homes in Dix Hills and senior housing and Madonna Heights. BTW if want to include the whole HHH school district, you will find that you can live in affordable areas like Farmingdale, Deer Park, East Northport and Wyandanch/Wheatley Heights and still go to great schools. Let me see, let's name some towns on LI with no affordable housing: Brookville, Upper Brookville, Muttontown, Loyld's Neck, Huntington Harbor, Shelter Island, so on and so forth. BTW check the NYSED web page, you will that the HHH school district is 'only' 74% white, compared to Commack at 95% white or Elwood at 95% white. BTW if your looking for diversity in your school system, don't look at Wyandanch schools at 98% black. Again review the on the NYSED website and you will find that the HHH School district is one of the most 'diverse' school districts in the TOH and Babylon (if that matters to you) HHH is probably one of the most 'diverse' school district in the state, if it matters to you. I know Dix Hills gets this 'rap' for being a 'rich' area, but trust me the majority of people in Dix Hills are just working middle class and professional people. Obviously like anywhere else some people are doing better than others. Like I always tell my son, If you were 'rich' you wouldn't be living in Dix Hills, you'd be living in Loyld's Neck or on the water along the north shore somewhere. If you had real money you certainly wouldn't be living Dix Hills. BTW, I totally support this open space idea for this property and others along DPA, my house borders this property and the TOH has not preserved any property in Dix Hills, and we all vote for the money to keep buying it. Hopefully the town will finally buy some openspace property in Dix Hills....anyway...nuf-said. Tschuss!

BTW, I stand corrected. I just checked MLS, the first house in HHH schools starts at $280,000. The first house in HHH schools & Dix Hills starts at $385,000. The first house in HHH schools & Melville starts at $389,000. this must be one of the best kept secrets on LI, top notch schools at these prices...shhh...don't tell anyone, we want to keep out the 'riff-raff', you know who you are...
