Several arrested after raids of Suffolk County bars

Eight bartenders and bouncers were arrested in separate raids at three Suffolk County bars Friday and charged with violations of state liquor laws, including serving minors alcohol, police said.

Requiring a bouncer to have a security guards license is totally abusrd. This is why you cannot let the government pass these idiotic laws for more and more licenses. They are a tax and a way for people llike Sgt Beyer to abuse their authority harrassing the public. The drinking age should be 18 not 21. We tell these kids they can work fight wars and are adults if charged criminally yet we do not trust them to drink. The contention that it "saves lives" is nonsense. if we banned every activity that "saved ;ives" we would not be allowed to leave our homes. Why not ban automobiles? That would save lives.

You're absolutely right! I bet the family of Imette St. Guillen is right behind you on this one! That law was passed two years ago following her HORRIFIC rape and murder. Someone should bind your hands and feet, fill you with baby-batter, shove a sock in your mouth and tape around your head.

My only comment is how many of the thousands of brave MEN that have died in this war are under 21? And we would let them experience that without ever having had a drink? I think we need to rethink that one people!

Great work by SCPD, to round up and arrest these violaters of the laws that are supposed to keep bars safe and legal.
Unlicensed security guards, and probably not even criminal background checked , just like the bouncer who raped a St Johns Law graduate, and the bar owner made it possible by not being aware the guy was a convict and a rapist.
Minors don't need to be preyed upon, so keep em out of the bars until they are of age.

Just because you can fight in a war under the age of 21 does not mean you should be able to drink.
In case you didn't know, alcohol is a depressant. It impairs your judgement, lowers your inhibitions, dulls your reflexes, and destroys brain cells (black out, anyone?).
Ideally, an ADULT, by the age of 21, should be responsible enough to drink, but there are people more than twice that age who have yet to learn. If there are drunks and drunk drivers in their 40's who haven't learned their lesson, do really expect kids under 21 to know any better?
Another problem is, if you lower the drinking age to 18, then all of those younger than 18 will say " why stop there? Lower it to 13." There needs to be a check.
And while my hearts go out to the brave men in women serving our country in Iraq, how many THOUSANDS of people were killed or killed themselves because of driving drunk and/or alcohol poisoning?
If people under 21 want to drink so bad, travel to Mexico or another country where the drinking age is lower. And then, see what happens when your drunken behavior lands you in their jail.

I BELIEVE THAT THE BOUNCERS SHOULD BE LICENSED, BUT THE PROCESS IN NYS IS ABSURD. WHY IT TAKES AT LEAST 3 MONTHS TO PROCESS THE SECURITY LICENSE IS BEYOND ME. Another Mush for brains. I wish you could have been part of our crew on our local Ambulance Squad of which my wife and I have close to 50 years of service combined. I wish you were there when we had to put the bodies of two Teens in the back of the rig to keep family members from viewing them before we had a chasnce to clean them up a bit. I wish you wre there when We had to tell a member of an adjoining town that Her 20 year old son drowned while trapped in his car( He knew better). 1)Citing 1 known case is a very weak argument.
2)If you knew the facts of these cases in Suffolk, you would know that all of these bars were charged with letting a few people slip past the door with fake ID's, not without ID.
3)The bars that were charged with overcrowding had between 80-100 total people and only a few people had fake ID's, which means that the percentage of people in there under 21 were very low. If the bars did this on purpose then there would be dozens of underage kids in the bar. Thats how it works, so keep your mouth shut and you can open it again when you know what you are talking about.

By the way, 80-100 people EACH that meant.. which means 10 out of at least 240 people slipped past with fake ID. Wow these bars are doing a terrible job! Go catch real criminals instead of acting like jackasses with these frivolous cases. This story also means that they ruined at least 230 legal adults night by lining them all up and having them wait to get their ID's back for 45 minutes.. bravo police, way to harass the public!

You cant be serious? You think the license process will prevent a sick person from doing what he did? Have you taken the test? My three year old could pass that test. Do you honestly think they do an extensive background check or a mental test to see if your fit to be a bouncer. You listen to a canned speech, take a test and your licensed.
