"A federal appeals court overturned the D.C. gun ban in March, but it remains in place while Mayor Adrian Fenty appeals to the Supreme Court. But despite the ban, guns are commonly found in criminals' hands -- a major theme of Tuesday's protest."

Well if they know they are criminals, why the heck are they out on the street? It always seems that the government knows who the criminals are but does nothing to get them off the street until they wreak havoc and then demand more gun control for those who already obey the law.

Just take the guns away from blacks and it will all be fine.

Taking guns away from blacks is how gun control got started. Most gun control laws were deliberately targeted at black (sometimes Italians or Irish). The fact is that most black people are law abiding as with any group a small minority who act up get the attention.

I think you need two things -

1 - De-criminalize drug posession and use (not distrubution) and allow for people to get help with drug problems
2 - Re-criminalize murder, rape, robbery, theft... and prosecute people when they do commit crimes
