I find it interesting that they seem to be blaming the actual vehicle as opposed to the driver of said vehicle... just sounds odd. Sad event, I hope everyone turns out okay. My prayers to the families involved with this accident.

I hope they locked up that murderous SUV. (poorly written headline)

My goodness what an awful thing to happen! My prayers with the deceased man's family and the pregnant woman's also! I hope the driver of the SUV recovers also. Hopefully (and unfortunately) this was an unavoidable accident and not someone just driving recklessly! My heart is sinking for the unborn baby. God bless!

100 bucks says the driver was on their cell phone.

Or, as is common all over this area, the pedestrains may have been crossing mid-block, nowhere near a crosswalk with pedestrain signals. It will be interesting to see what the investigation reveals.

My thing is...the driver must have been speeding or not paying attention or both. Drivers really need to slow down and calm down, it is not the end of the world!!! I feel real sorry for the two pedestrians including the unborn child. In addition to pedestrian safety...there should always "be" a sidewalk no matter what. Where are people going to walk on? The County really needs to get their act together and look at places where sidewalks need to be in place "now", not in 2-5years. My deepest prayers go out to the pedestrians and their families.

You're probably correct and that caused an unnecessary tragic accident if that's the case.

If anyone has ever been down that stretch. There aren't any sidewalks and the speed limit through there is 55 mph. Also remember PA Ave use to be rural road before apartments and stores were erected in that area. Al there is over there is soft shoulders and bushes. This starts right after you cross out of the DC into MD. Sorry for the loss of the two people.

What's happening to this world? I am really curious how the heck did the driver hit the victims? How can you not see a 8 month preggie lady?
Also they really need to put sidewalk everywhere! Where I grew up in a small town but we had sidewalk everywhere!

Well, actually, it is the end of the world for those 2 adults.

Small fact correction... unless that SUV was KITT, it didn't kill anyone, the driver did.

First reports said that the lady was 8 months pregnant. Now it says 5 months... as of last report, both mom and baby have passed. My sympathies to the families of this tragic loss.

Some good comments here... glad people picked up on the poorly written headline. No bet about the driver being on the cell phone - probably texting.

Stop blaming the infrastructure and place it on the driver! Not the SUV as the headline would lead us to believe. Or maybe "Lack of Sidewalk Kills 2."

or maybe the headline should read "Pregnant Woman and non-Pregnant Man Die While Walking in Traffic"

Man with a Mustache, it must be tough being you. Imagine, waking up every morning having to live with the curse of being ignorant.
