Hip hop is just glamorization of thuggery and low moral values. And most of the time, its afficionados are low-intelligence knuckle dragging mouth breathers who are many grades behind in school, come from parents who were pretty much the same, and will beget a new generation of dumbos with which to further afflict society. There should be a mandatory sterilization program for people like this, anyone caught tagging, engaging in gang activity, selling drugs on the street, stealing cars, etc.
At least it would give us a chance to break the vicious cycle.
Holy crap...tell us how you really feel..... I love it! couldn't possibly have said it better myself...

Where exactly is "your" neighborhood that's so scary in Livermore? While we have some areas that are less fortunate than others there is nothing scary or tough in Livermore. Save all the wannabe gangster drama for someone who's dumb enough to believe the hype. Livermore IS middle class suburbia. Get used to it. It's not going to change anytime soon. Save it tough guy. You're a bad joke.

Not jealous - we only wish people that have this talent - would put it on canvas instead of our city walls. Hell they might be able to sell them if they play their cards right - make some money off of it....make a career out of it.

prize 1, you are so deep and thoughtful. Your post has brought enlightment to the troubled youth of today and how vandalism is about expression. I guess it is better than robbery or rape or murder. You have opened my eyes to see vandalism as an outlet for those youngsters out there who just need a shoulder to cry on and when they can't find that shoulder, they should buy spray paint. Now that I understand why, may I judge?

After they buy the spraypaint...they should also buy a piece of canvas to spray it on..then it won't be vandalism..it will be art ;)

The only thing worse than people who spray paint property that they do not own is when people who have no talent do it. whoever did this has zero artistic ability.

Graffiti is art, and in what ever way it is expressed is still respectable and beautiful. Anyone who says different can show me their talents so I can talk trash too. As taken directly from a dictionary, "art; n the quality, production, expression, or realm of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance." Someone says this isn't art and they are wrong. Its beautiful and takes much talent to produce such a thing. And if you think this doesn't take talent, go buy yourself some paint and see if anything you can make will look this good.

More definitions:

Graffiti: Form of visual communication, usually illegal, involving the unauthorized marking of public space by an individual or group. Technically the term applies to designs scratched through a layer of paint or plaster, but its meaning has been extended to other markings. Graffiti is widely considered a form of antisocial behaviour performed in order to gain attention or simply for thrills.

Vadalism: Willful or malicious destruction of public or private property.

While you present a very valid argument, I'm inclined to disagree. I think I understand the point you're trying to get across here, but let me clarify- you believe we both have a right to deface property, wither a public bridge or a privately owned car? Yes, we may have that right, but I believe crimes against a public institution or local government are quite different from crimes against an individual citizen. I can organize a picket protest around a government office, but if i did the same to a residence, would i not face harrasment charges? I, personally, believe in only writing on public property. I do this becuase my art is not meant to inconvenience individuals, but change the way society as a whole operates. You could argue that by defacing public proerty and forcing the city to pay for removal, I'm taking away taxpayers' money; however, i believe you'd rather have me do that than tag some unfortunate person's garage door, and force that person to pay for removal out of his own pocket. You may have the right to tag my car (if i had one), but i like to think you would do the considerate, intelligent thing and tag a bridge instead.
By the way, I'm not from Oakland, I'm a Livermore native.
First of all what you are doing is still wrong. It does not matter if it is personal or public property! It is still senseless tagging. You also say that your tag is art, well it is not! Even if some consider it art, you are not going to "change how society as a whole operates."

When you tag public property, you are causing the city to use tax payers money to send someone out to the location to remove the tag.

Why don't you "tag" your "message" on your own property!?! Wait, you don't want it to be on your own property, because it is ugly and unimportant? If all you want is society as a whole to change, then talk to city officials, of tag your own property.

Also, you're a criminal, false rebel, vandal, and in my opinion (and almost everyone else) you're a fucking moron!!!

I'm waiting for your intelligent response...
