Funny, I thought that the belief that a sexual assault occurs when the woman changes her mind after sobering up the next morning was a liberal agenda idea. Face it, if the prosecutor had the evidence to make a rape charge stick, Dumler would be in jail. He is now among the many who have had to plea bargain to a meaningless minor charge because the cost of litigation was unaffordable.

Or maybe Dumler is just a great admirer of Ted Kennedy?

You must struggle with what a liberal is,too.
.
Because it was a he said she said case, the prosecutor probably offered a plea. Dumler, being an attorney, knows that hearsay cases are impossible to convict. When another person stepped forward from his past, perhaps beyond the satute of limitations or too embarrassed to come forward, finally said that they would, it could have been in his best interest to take the plea. The bottom line is that he plead to sexual violence. There is plenty of evidence that he's smart enough to know that sexual violence carries a stigma with it that would ruin his career. It shouldn't be politicized, and I am in agreement with both arguements here. I understand that the justice system is flawed, but in such a case, with so much to lose, he should have fought for his life. At some point, you have to weigh the odds.

What about Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton, Gerry Studds, and Ted "the swimmer" Kennedy? Senator Robert Byrd was a leader in the Klu Klux Klan.

I believe that DUMLER is a sneaky person. If Farris is found guilty in a law of court yes he should step down too.. This has to do with Dumler not being able todo his job.. He is a DISTRACTION on the BOS and in the TOWN of SCOTTSVILLE. IN my Opinion he just needs to leave the town and county .......... But if he doesn't leave KARMA come around.. So you agree that both should step down?

No, Fariss doesn't.
All you are citing is a police report from 11 years ago for an emergency PO that didn't go beyond that. One instance from 11 years ago does not a history make.
You, however, have a history of idiocy so please resign from posting.
Pardon, please read the plain English:

Our point remains valid: ask any elected official with history of violence to resign. Honorable Mr Fariss has a record of a 'History of violence'. Honorable Mr Dumler has a record of a history of violence.

These are true statements grounded in fact.

No, I don't think Farris should step down. He was elected by his constituency with the restraining order and the other 4 convictions on his record. Dumler got his during his term, and made his choice to settle. I do think that those decrying moral superiority against Dumler should equally oppose Farris.

We have said that elected officials with a history of violence should resign. Not because of 'distraction'(since we don't know what that means), but because of fitness. We acknowledge that some people find participation in violence is a sort of fitness for public duty, but we disagree.

Why is the history of violence of Honorable Mr Dumler a distraction and the 'History of violence' of Honorable Mr Fariss not a distraction? what does 'distraction' mean? If 'being a distraction' is a cause for undermining a valid election, then we would have no election stand more than a month, a week, or a day, since 'distractions' can occur, or be manufactured, endlessly.

We prefer to understand this situation as a matter of fitness. A history of violence - against humans or animals - would appear to make one un-fit for elected public duty.

<quoted text>At least two of the three you mentioned had the INTEGRITY to step down. Where is Dumbler's integrity??
Due to the scandal, Haggard went on administrative leave from New Life saying "I am voluntarily stepping aside from leadership so that the overseer process can be allowed to proceed with integrity. I hope to be able to discuss this matter in more detail at a later date.
Foley resigned from Congress on September 29, 2006 acting on a request by the Republican Leadership after allegations surfaced that he had sent suggestive emails and sexually explicit instant messages to underage males who had formerly served and were at that time serving as Congressional pages.
Which has absolutely nothing with the post I responded to. If you're going to reply, try to keep in context of what is being posted, and responded to.

This is why we are so f$%#@^ as a nation. People care more about their political party than what is right. I still believe if you are not an independent you are a tool who is used by the left or right.

So whoever you are that posted this.. you are right! Dumler should stay in office because these other people are s%^%b%%%s too! Good work. Your Democrat masters will thank you.

Perhaps they were just posting it to show that neither side is the party of moral superiority as is so often suggested by the so called "conservatives" on this board. I've often compared political affiliation with college sports. People believe their team can do no wrong.

you're welcome.
The key to this is for the most part people on the left don't paint themselve as the Relgious, Holier than Thou party who is so pure in their values. The Right, who does this, just comes off more hypocritical.
On a local level, consider Mr. Schilling...

The right has such difficulty with their hypocrisy.
Consider the TEA Party - wtf were they when their President
was pouring a $ trillion in tearing down and then rebuilding a Muslim country.
All of a sudden spending $ on your own citizens is sinful.

Of course a little government forced ultrasound rape - no problem!

Dumler should resign plain and simple. The people have spoken. Why would he want to be there, if the community does not want him. I think everyone that wants him to resign should show up at the next BOS meeting with signs that ask for his resignation. That way the BOS will see what a distraction he is and hopefully they will get on board and get him off the BOARD! What a disgrace! Every board has their cross to bear, Albemarle has Dumler, Charlottesville has Szakos! Maybe they could run away together...oh and take Neff with them!
