Thats awful that a police officer would kill and injure innocent people on the way to a murder scene. It is never that serious that you have to put other lives in danger. Another sad thing is that he will get away with it, however when a police officer is murdered someone has to pay for it. I am very upset, because I know someone in this family personally and the whole family is suffering, but all you all focus on is the police and the shootings.

It is a sad situation for all. The officer has to deal with a heavy physical and emotional burden. It 's a shame that one thug has cause this chain reaction.

My prayers go out to all the families touched by this tragedy.

The fact that this accident happened is tragic, but cmoore’s comments are what is awful. I would bet, that had it been cmoore’s son shot on that day and the police took 45 minutes to get there, so as not to respond as quickly as possible, he would be screaming that the police were negligent or lazy. He also seems to have failed to give the officer the “benefit of the doubt” before the crash investigation is finished. This officer has risked his life in Iraq, daily as an officer, and spent many years risking his own health and safety to save lives and property as an EMT and fireman. Yes it is terrible that someone was killed and hurt in the crash, but don’t think for one minute that the officer does not feel their pain also.

It is a very sad thing that happened all in one night with the chain of deaths and injuries. My dearest prayers go out to Anthony Monroe's family and friends first of all for his death. He might be gone but he's not forgotten. Also to the shooters family who have to go and see them in jail/prison from here on out and the shooters for the life they have to look forward to now... it's not going to be an easy road but maybe one day you will see where things went wrong and what you could have done differently to prevent this...! Then to officer Stegall... I know this is something that has to rest on your chest/mind that someone died due to you responding to a call, but understand things happen for a reason, nobody might know why or ever figure out why but God has a plan for EVERYONE!! Then last but not least Mrs. Pride and everyone in the family. It's sad to lose someone so dear but as I said above God has a plan for everyone and maybe it was just his time to go, he's done his deed for God!

I know everyone who was involved with all the incidents and it's a very sad time for everyone...!

I only have one question and Im not trying to offend the police officer, but if he was a farmville officer on duty why was he all the way out on my side of the country? I feel bad that this happened but that has been a question I have had since the incident. I live near the accident scene and even heard the helicopter as it landed and took off from the accident, and I know that that is a long way out of town limits, assuming I was not misinformaed about it being a town officer. Dont want to offend anyone...GOD BLESS all of those involved in that tragic night!

Officer was called in to work. The tactical team was activated for a shooting that resulted in a murder in town. They were responding to look for the shooter.

Thanks for clarifying that info...we were told by another officer he was already on duty and was way out of his assigned area. I know not to believe everything you hear, but its just been waying on my mind. I feel bad for all who were involved but God decided it was time for Mr. Pride to come join him and no one can change that.

I understand that accidents happen but i too want to know if he was a town cop, why was out there? His reckless driving cost a man his life! He should be charged just as if it was me that did it! I travel that same road with my child and I should feel safe when I meet a police man on that road, now I pray everytime I meet one, and thats not fair to the officers that are careful.

How do you know that the officer was responsible? They met head on and I know that road it is curved and narrow. The pictures say it all. The officer lived on the road where the accident occured. And when you are responding to a shooting in which a death occured you have to expedite. Sadly Buck Pride was killed. I liked him and his wife. I would think that if the officer was at fault he would have been charged but he has not. Which means that the vehicle he struck was on his side of the road. I condemn no one in this it was a tragic thing to have happened. You know anyone can have an accident at any given time.

you know people just go on and on jumping to conclusions, when they don't even know what really happened. whoever wrote this there is really no need for all of this hatrid, first of all the "cooper boy" as you say did not shoot anthoney monroe, and second before yall go judging people find out the truth first.
