I always stab things that I don't understand and are not threatening me. Makes perfect sense.

I would have stabbed it too! Where did this thing come from? Oh goodness!

Sorry but I would have shot it. I see no use in having snakes on the loose in such a highly populated area where a child could be injured by it.

If it's hungry, how about feeding it members of City Council?

"a Boathouse Grill employee stabbed it."

Over possum... I love a possum, poor creatures, but the heck if I'd get close to that snake to save one! Glad they got it.

What child are you making up? Parents drive with their kids in the car while texting and you are worried about a boa constrictor? You need to get your brain cell(singular) examined. Grow up Rambo.

The only problem with your logic is that type of snake couldn't harm a child.

this monster probably wreaked havoc on the local endangered street rat population

you would have to be extremely slow and oblivious to your surroundings to get attacked by this thing, and even then it could probably only swallow up to your elbow or kneecap

Stabbed? Too bad the snake didn't choke the Boathouse employee to death. That would be really newsworthy. Truth be told, the snake stole the possum out of the Boathouse walk-in cooler.(It was a special that night).

Steal God's creature from the jungle, ship it out to sell it, neglect it, release it to die but make sure it's stabbed first. It 'strangled' a possum near a restaurant doing its snake thing, so it must have deserved what it got.

Snake aside.....I am curious....why did the Boathouse close? Any answers out there? Did they run out of fresh possum?

Does anyone know how he came to be loose? Is it possbile, most likely, that he got out from the Pet Forum as they were closing, or worse yet, let loose? Poor guy, I'm not a snake person, but stabbing it over killing a possum is stupid. Its nature.

I don't see what the big deal about the opossum was. If the snake didn't kill it, a car on 29 would have.

So, the previously reported harmless 9-10 foot Burmese Python as thick as a roll of paper towels has become a harmless 7 foot Boa Constrictor no more than three inches thick. So much for eye witnesses.

The vet bills for the snake cut and stabbed by the brave Boat House employee are expected to exceed $1000. Way to go, Brave Dude. You probably run over box turtles in the road after a rain. too, don't you, Super Hero?

I do appreciate this story, however. I was unaware of the Central Virginia Reptile Rescue organization; it's good to know such people are around. I will support them in the future.

The courageous Boat House employee stabs the harmless snake. Subsquently, the Boat House restaurant goes out of business. Sounds like good karma to me. Hah!!

Heartfelt thanks to all the people who tried to find the snake and then, when it was found, being persistent until they found an organization to care for it. It's amazing he didn't die of infection from the knife wound. And to Mr. Dingbat Boathouse Grill kitchen employee, next time keep the knives in the kitchen.

Good job Boathouse employee.

Tried to kill what was undoubtedly someone's [expensive!] pet in favor of trying to save a worthless [rabid] possum.

What an idiot. I won't be eating at the Boathouse anymore. They apparently employ people withouse high school diplomas.

It has been reported elsewhere that the pet shop nearby that closed let the snake loose. If that can be proven, isn't there some consequence for that? If not, it's still irresponsible, ignorant, and cruel for them to just release it.
