Diesel spike hurts us all -- industry, retail and consumer

Motorists who grumble about the cost of filling up their tank as the cost of gasoline climbs should be happy they aren't filling up a truck that takes diesel fuel.

I'm not a trucker, just a home owner that owns a diesel tractor. I use it to cut grass and garden. I bought it because I thought the diesel engine would be more economical. What a mistake! I can't imagine how a trucker can continue to operate with these diesel prices. I feel for them.

You make it sound as if all the drivers collect fuel surcharge? I believe I would be pretty accuate in saying 5-10% of owner operators get ant type of fuel surcharge. And I would like to know what kind of truck operates on 35cpm do you forget you have oil reg. ins. driver pay maint. If you do not take that into consideration you do not even know your bottom line and you are most likely one of the dingdongs that are running our industry in the ground with your cheap freight hauling. Get to know your industry or get out of the truck.
