WE have very Good Vets In Dickson.I use Dr Brannon and Dr Thomas.
Now finding a dependable knowledgeable Farrier is another storey. Seems they only show up when they need the money,Not when your horses need shoes. I now have a Natural no shoes horse Farrier,Earnest know's his business and he shows up ever 8 wks,

Charles Banks is one of the best farriers in the area.

Nope...but he sure is good at what he does. Certification and school does not always equal competence.

Yes, the one I had was good when it came to putting shoes on all 8 horses (at $60 per horse), was here every 6-8 weeks, but I became pregnant not riding at all...went to no shoes.. they need trims, and natural care...my farrier did a crappy job, never showed back up. Is your farrier in Dickson?

I have used Dr. B before...but when I had a horse colic...not a vet in Dickson would come out to my barn...almost lost the horse. I had to go to a vet in Williamson county to retrieve what I needed, bring it back and save the horse myself. I come from Marshall county, and no matter what there was always a vet somewhere there on call for such emergencies. Do you know of a dentist?

thanks for your reply!:)

Charles Banks has been on horses since he was old enough to walk aqnd cares about every horse he sees. He lives in the Lyles, Bon Aqua area of Hickman County. He will be able to put you in touch with every reputable vet around.

Well, had someone tell me about a good farrier, I called him...said he would call back...never did!

The Equine community here in the Dickson area really does lack!!!!

Still searching.....

Ever one knows a self made farrier does not know all there is to know about hoof disease and different ways to treat founder in hoofs or laminatis,or how to get the best gait out of your horse. Sure any one can go nail a shoe on a hoof,I can evan do that but that does not make me a farrier.I also was as most raised on a horse.
There is more to being a farrier than that.

I am a farrier and have been doing it for a few years now. I am just looking at picking up as many clients as a I can because I will be graduating college in another month and I will have a lot more time to work on horses once I get done. I am shoeing in Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota. I travel a lot and am willing to deal on wherever someone lives. Given enough horses a farrier can go anywhere. I have many references and love what I do.

Farrier schools are worthless!! You cannt learn what you need to know about the foot and bimechanics of it in a 6 week course! Constant education is nececcasry
