Hundreds of people holding signs denouncing big government, taxes and illegal immigration gathered on the lawn of the Texas Capitol on Saturday, booing a U.S. senator and cheering multiple jabs at actions in Washington. Full Story

I addressed the specifics of the post you amened.
Statistics can be skewed to support or detract from any point of opinion. It's a fun link and includes stats on binge drinking per state too. The post was an over generalization and that exposes it to argument.
I don't need to over generalize or rely on stats to support my opinion of you think you have problems? Try being in Illinois. Stagnant and corrupt beyond belief.
It is not about the ruling party, it is about the ruling politicians from both parties. I commend Texas for standing up to their politicians and demanding more.

You did? Where? Was that part written in secret code? The post I "amened", said "bottom academic scores in the nation, lower range median income, top polluter"....I didn't see you mention pollution or median income.

It may have been, but the poster was making a general point and you didn't exactly disprove it by posting totally irrelevant information with regard to what he/she said.

It's demeaning to say a state is in fact doing a pretty good job?
It doesn't impress you to see members of a political party have high expectations of their politicians?

Of course not, but your purpose for posting the material was to demean the other poster for pointing out the negatives and me for agreeing with him/her.

I think most rational people have high expectations for their politicians, as well as others who perform a service for them.

Why did't you point them out then? Tell you what...we'll let you patrol the posts for errors since that's all you have to offer. You can be the "grammar monitor"!

I just don't see how a look at the bright side is demeaning, especially when I am championing a state other than my own. If there is any state in this nation that is coming closest to getting things right, I think it is Texas. No it's not perfect and there is always room for improvement, but God Bless Texas, it is my model of hope. Did you notice that I live in Illinois? Near Chicago?
It is next to impossible to have any high expectations for our politicians here. You can be for certain that Durbin and Burris weren't holding any town halls.

You're "championing" a political bent, not a state. A look at the bright side is not demeaning, but your purpose in posting it as a response to someone who pointed out the not so bright side, was to demean and negate that persons point of view. You did so because you "champion" what you consider conservative policy.

Cornyn is exactly like all the other politicians in this country. He's a liar trying hard to convince his constituents that he's acting in their best interests. He's a big part of the problem. And he's a weasel for trying to distance himself from Washington. He voted for tarp. He thinks it's easy for people to come up with more tax money so he can stupidly waste it.
Cornyn is a tool. He voted for TARP.
