“Life is a Beach” Since: Aug 07
Bay Saint Louis ISP: Ocean Springs, MS |
It's about time someone stepped up to the plate. I think they will do a good business, I will go there instead of Walmart for food.

This is GREAT! WalMart is about to drive me insane and their meat is terrible. I also will go there for my groceries. I can't wait!

|
Any idea of the prices? Lots of independant grocercy stores are forced to mark up products to make ends meet. But Im sure having decent meat will be worth it.

If it is anything like the prices of thier picayune store, claiborne hill, the prices are much lower than wal-mart or winndixie. Perishable items were always cheap and fresh as they actually buy local produce from the picayune area small farmers.I am looking forward to spending my money with someone else.

Sounds good to me.

Don't get me wrong, I like having Wal-Mart here for most stuff but a little competition is good no matter what?
A dedicated grocery store will be great! |

Does anyone know the current status of the grocery coming to the Bay, i.e. is it really Claiborne Hill, where are they going to reside, and approximately what date are they planning to open?

going nowhere fast.

Heard that Claiborne deal is dead. Nada going on at the proposed store - no roof for instance.
Heard a rumor that Bay St. Louis Mayor is talking to a grocer for Old Town site. Has anyone else heard anything new? |

If you haven't tried CJ's meat on blaize avenue in BSL then you're missing out. Prices are in line with rouses or wal mart - God knows I've shopped around for the best prices -, and the meats (especially steaks, chicken and ground meat) are far better than either wal mart or rouses. it even beats Rouses angus beef, and that's hard to believe. the other grocery items are pretty high priced, so it doesn't replace a "real" grocery store, but the meat market is really, really good. the chicken, steaks (rib eyes and fillets) are the best i've ever cooked hands down - and that is also the opinion of all of my family and friends. check it out, you won't be sorry.
we do need a "real" grocery for sure, but CJ's meat market will continue to be my "go to" for steaks and chicken (which has no additives, by the way). |

great comment on CJ's. That's where I shop for meat and things I forgot at the big building where they store goods that no one else will buy.
