Your life was important and you are still important. Your music led you down the right path and may your love of music keep your friends and family at peace. No one every really dies, but we are transformed into something else greater. See you Zach, it was cool knowing you for the short time I did.

Poor Zach. Can any of his friends give us more information on him or what happened?
That freeway is so scary at night. I dozed off for a few seconds on the 57 once late at night, and I was very lucky to have stayed on the road.
RIP Zach.

His name was Zach Headden. You can read more about him at the Pacific Crest Drum Corps website. Sharp mind, incredibly bright kid. He will be sorely, sorely missed.

November 13, 2009 - Pacific Crest Drum Major, Zachary Headden, was killed early this morning in an auto accident in Diamond Bar, California.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:45 AM, as Zach and another PC Alumnus, Armando Duenas, were driving home from a performance in San Diego with the Mt. San Antonio College Wind Ensemble.

His father, Robert Headden, called Executive Director Stuart Pompel within hours of the accident. "I am shocked and deeply saddened about this," said Pompel in a communication to the Pacific Crest Family of members, alumni, staff, board, and volunteers. "The entire Pacific Crest family is stunned, and when corps members call me, I'm asking that they get together to support one another during this incredibly difficult time."

Armando is in stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, according to his sister. He suffered some broken bones and lacerations, and may be undergoing surgery today or tomorrow.

Pompel will stay in contact with Mr. Headden about plans for Zach's memorial service, and will post the information to the Pacific Crest Web site and notify the PC Family.

Any contribution will be greatly accepted and given directly to Armando's Mother.
