Fort Ord Dunes on list of parks feds could repossess

The federal government is threatening to take possession of several of California's most prominent state parks - including four miles of beaches at Fort Ord Dunes, Angel Island in San Francisco Bay and the top of Mount Diablo - if Sacramento lawmakers close them to balance the budget.

I am strongly opposed to the closing of any CA state parks. I have been a volunteer at Pt. Sur for over ten years, and I am convinced of its importance as a historic treasure to remain accessible to visitors. We volunteers have worked tirelessly to restore and preserve this important site.

I approve the proposed vehicle license fee of $15.00. It is a small price to pay to preserve our parks. Closure of any parks, in my opinion, would just exacerbate the economic problems. The parks bring revenue to maintain themselves as well as revenue to adjacent businesses.
