The Watertown paper OWNS the Malone Telegram, it sounds like a deadline issue, not a cover up.

Bad thing though it it's true, however I'll wait to see what the details are...

I'm sure there's some degree of cover-up involved too

Sure, a big coverup going on there! It's been reported in the parent paper of FOUR NNY dailies, the man has been charged by TWO police agencies (DEC and NYS Police)and we're all talking about it.
I'd like to hear your theory on WHY there's a coverup, is it because village officals think they should protect employees who are cruel to animals or what?
If he's guilty, he should be severely punished, but let's put a little faith in the police and the Judicial system and see what happens

Trent,

Let's just say that's how local machinations work. For instance, the Flanagan. That situation is a total scam yet both papers drink the developer's Kool-Aid and say work will continue.

A scam would imply that someone is getting fleeced....hmmmm, let's see, the developer paid more than $150,000 in property taxes for the Flanagan (as opposed to ZERO from the previous owner)The developer hauled THOUSANDS of pounds of pidgon poop, and debris from the site, paying commercial rate tipping fees at the county landfill, The developer paid a large crew good wages for MONTHS, Put a new roof on, painted and more and yet you say there's a scam going on.....amazing.
You do reveal much about yourself in the proccess....like not understanding the national banking crisis that has caused this project, the aviation project in Plattsburg, the track project in Brasher Falls and THOUSANDS of other projects nationwide to be idled while awaiting financing.
But even an uneducated person who doesn't know these things doesn't have to insult our intelligence by suggesting that we have a "scam" on our hands when the only "victims" appear to be the ones who had the gumption to put everything they have into a dream project that may cost them everything.

Whatever indeed, I hope they succeed and admire them for trying, even if they ultimatly fail.
Understand that if the project does succeed we ALL benifit, and if it fails, none of us will benifit.

Before you get all excited about a Hotel in Malone.....don't you think it would be a good idea, for the Malone so called "Politicians" to promote some sort of Industry to settle there and help rid the folks of only minimum wage jobs to chose from!! Or you will see more National Franchises (Such as Dominos) now in the area, pull out!

promoting industry is a great idea, but let's face it, most industry is leaving America for low wage nations, and many industries are cutting jobs in this economy.
We need to support independent small bussinesses and agricultural products (local domain branding).

Good day to all! back to the topic somewhat, it will be interesting to see what punishment is delt out for cruelty to animals vs. sexually assault a young girl. this will say volumms about what our community values more. with respect to the Hotel, I too was hoping all the hype about the rebhabilitated Hotel was for real, but you had to know something was afoul from the very start. No professional construction crews or destruction crews for that matter, just local people willing to wade through hazardous debris for a buck, I don't blame them, everyone wants work, but come on a 10 million dollar project doesn't start like that. and as far as industry coming to our area, I think the high energy cost and record high property tax has delt the death blow to that.

Hang'm both high!! If we don't start to HANG those offender's (The downtown Restaurant owner) especially.....my kid's, your kids and their Children, will be in serious Jeopardy with these Sexual Predators!!!!!!!!! If my Children and or Grand Children were ever a victim of a Sexual Predator......and the Law didn't give them the appropriate punishment (Execution)I WOULD!!!!!!
