So glad to see local professionals investing back. Its these local families giving back that builds a strong community. I hope the city council, and more importantly the people in the community, support these efforts!

I agree. It is also good to see people decide to do things on a private basis. Lewis County General Hospital has been the "mover and the shaker" in providing health care here. That has to stop. Their role must diminish. We MUST move toward privatization. That hospital---as we know it---is doomed to failure under current health care mandates. A county of 27,000 people cannot possibly continue to support that facility on a long term basis. The mounting costs of pensions and life-long health insurance for hospital retirees will bankrupt Lewis County if something is not done. The demands of public union members who want more money for less work must be confronted. Right now, Detroit, Michigan is dealing with the consequences of these same issues. I believe Dr. Lyndaker and his wife understand such issues and are moving forward with the realization that health care in Lewis County must change. Good for them. They are intelligent, decisive, and committed to doing something good to resolve the problems---as opposed to being part of the problem. Hospital management, the Hospital Board, and the Lewis County Legislature must come to similar conclusions. If something isn't done, the majority of county residents will be unable to pay their property taxes.

LCGH continues to receive support in the form of contracted testing and treatment of Soldiers from Fort Drum. If 10th MTN realigns and they bring 4th BCT to NY they will almost certainly build a facility on Fort Drum, which will likely bankrupt not just LCGH, but Samaritan as well.

I was under the impression, due to recent testimony of Officer Dale Roberts that the old municipal building is in fact a church
