This was on the front page of the Poplar Bluff paper, I guess the Dexter paper was full today and could not cover this story....or it could be the Hedrick boy's Dad advertises with them? I am changing my insurance soon!
By MICHELLE FRIEDRICH BLOOMFIELD — A Dexter teenager is to appear in court Thursday afternoon on eight sexual-related felonies, including forcible sodomy and attempted forcible rape. Zachariah A. Hedrick, 17, of the 16100 block of Country Lane was charged last week with the unclassified felonies of attempted forcible rape and attempted first-degree statutory rape, the Class B felony of first-degree child molestation, the Class C felonies of sexual abuse and felonious restraint and the Class D felony of sexual misconduct involving a child. At the time Hedrick allegedly committed the offenses in February 2006, he was a juvenile. Stoddard County juvenile authorities reportedly sought to have Hedrick certified and tried as an adult. A hearing was held before Associate Circuit Judge John Spielman in Kennett to consider a motion filed by juvenile authorities to dismiss and allow prosecution under general law. In his order, Spielman cited eight reasons, which included the seriousness of the alleged offenses and Hedrick’s age, as to why Hedrick was “not a proper subject to be dealt with under the provisions of the juvenile code.” Spielman’s order was filed Jan. 26, the same day Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Briney Welborn filed a complaint charging Hedrick with six additional felonies. Hedrick already was charged with the Class B felony of forcible sodomy and the Class C felony of felonious restraint. Welborn had filed those charges in connection with an alleged Oct. 4 incident at a Dexter business. Spielman ordered Hedrick to appear at 1:30 p.m. Thursday for a hearing on the original charges and arraignment on the new ones. Spielman was assigned by Presiding Circuit Judge Stephen Sharp to hear the cases after Associate Circuit Judge Joe Satterfield recused himself and after the defense sought a change of judge when Associate Circuit Judge Stephen Mitchell was assigned to hear the initial case. All the charges against Hedrick stem from investigations by the Dexter Police Department. Attached to Detective Cory Mills’ probable cause affidavits were written statements from Hedrick’s alleged victims. “We walked around the store for a few minutes talking,” the teen wrote.“Then Zach went back to the office and sat down, to talk, I assumed.” According to the teen’s statement, while in the office, Hedrick allegedly asked her if “I would make out with him. I said ‘Sure,’ thinking he was just kidding. He then asked me if I really would. “I asked if he was being serious and he said yes. I then answered no.” Hedrick allegedly asked again, with the teen saying she again refused. “He then said ‘Just make out with me, please,’ so I gave in thinking he’d go away if I let him have his way,” the teen wrote.“… After we kissed for a while, I pulled away and told him I couldn’t do it anymore because it was awkward.” Hedrick allegedly asked the girl to perform sexual acts on him, which she reportedly refused to do . The victm said Hedrick also asked her to have sex and she refused. The teen said she waited for Hedrick to leave the store,“but (he) came back. He told me he wasn’t leaving until I (performed a sexual act on him). I said no ….” |

Part 2
The teen alleged Hedrick started kissing her and restrained one of her hands during the sex act. In his probable cause affidavit, Mills detailed another incident, which allegedly occurred on a Wednesday in February 2006 at the First Baptist Church, 11 W. Castor, and involved a then 13-year-old girl . At approximately 7:45 to 8 p.m.,“Zachariah Hedrick grabbed Jane Doe (the alleged victim) by the arm and pushed her into a dark room,” where “Hedrick tried to kiss (her),” Mills said.“Jane Doe turned her head and tried to avoid Hedrick. At one point Jane Doe tried to walk away but the suspect grabbed her arm and pushed her to the fioor, Mills explained. At one point, Hedrick’s alleged victim,“who was still physically resisting and telling him to stop (his increased sexual advances), began crying and ceased physical resistance,” Mills said.“After Jane Doe started crying, Hedrick stopped the attack and asked what was wrong. As the girl attempted to leave,“Hedrick again grabbed Jane Doe by the arm, preventing her from leaving and asked her to swear on the Bible that she would not tell anyone,” Mills said.“Jane Doe refused ….” |

I have been wondering where this story went...it hasn't been in the Daily Statesman for a long time...I am shocked and saddened that this boy has done this sort of thing...it is disgusting.

1 He has been charged for something. The BIG difference is he has yet to be CONVICTED of any wrong doing. The exception being, of course, he has been convicted by the know-it-alls on this site. It's called due process people. It is part of what makes this country so great. When and if he is convicted, then be as hard on him as you please. Until then.... |

1 But, everybody knows the cops must really have a good case here or they would never go after such a wealthy and important family. He has done these things, if there was any doubt the cops would have turned their backs. |
