My name is Steven Baldridge and I am running for Mayor of Okmulgee. I want to open discussion on Issues and Matters that are important to the Citizens of Okmulgee. I have served Okmulgee for 5 years as Councilman Ward II and 3 Terms as Vice Mayor. I want change for Okmulgee in Economic Growth and bringing Pride back to Okmulgee. One of my actions when I take office is to have a Mayors Office at City Hall and on every Tuesday 3pm to 5pm I will have an open door policy no appointments need. I will also dedicate Monday afternoons to the public on my personal FaceBook page allowing Citizens to chat real time about City Matters. This would provide Citizens an avenue to express concerns about our City. My top priority is developing a plan to replace the water Mains in Okmulgee. I look forward to constructive input on what citizens see as priorities for our Great City.

Sincerely,

Steven Baldridge
Vice Mayor City of Okmulgee

This town needs some new business, restaurants, etc, etc. So tired of other small towns moving forward, while this town is status quo. I realize it's all the old time families that are slowing the process, but it's time for some new blood to make some positive decisions, about this town.

Thanks for your comment.
Okmulgee has lots of new blood and lots of ideas to move forward. I really believe we are on the edge of growing and have been preparing for growth as well.
We have been working hard on infrastructure and still working on our Water System.
I have and will push more for city wide clean up.
Our Area Development Corp is working hard to bring in new Industry and Businesses to Okmulgee.
We are currently working on City Incentives that will fuel new growth as well.
Both Banks are on board as well with our vision for Growth.

Thanks for your input and concern.

Regards,
Steven Baldridge
Vice Mayor City of Okmulgee

What have you done during your term as Vice-Mayor to facilitate bringing clean water to your citizens? Why has this been a problem for years? How do you feel about the multiple complaints that are lodged against your police department in regards to excessive use of force? How do you plan to change this, because as vice-mayor, you don't seem to have accomplished much.
Why should the citizens of Okmulgee promote you to a higher position when you've accomplished nothing in your current position?

Oh yeah it is. The Mayors position is powerless anyways, so the fact that Baldridge comes here saying he is going to do something about it is a lie from the beginning. He doesn't even answer the questions on the forum he created. He surely won't answer them on his so called Facebook page either. He's scum just like the rest or he would have already made a name for himself that was inline with his lies that he's "trying" to feed ppl now.

First thanks for writing but sounds like you have already made up your mind about me.
I just read your first comments sorry I don't sit on my computer 24X7. I do answer my Facebook and I guess on a form like this you can blast anything you want to say out there. At least people know who I am. But in one respect you are right it takes more than one councilman to accomplish anything.

Sincerely,
Steve

Keifer I could not agree with you more. Many in Okmulgee are trying to land new business. That is easier said than done. We are working on getting pre approved incentives that the city can provide like we have at the state level. Bixby, BA and other cities have already mastered this we are behind. I have never seen our current council turn any business down. I would say that we need to work on streamlining our processes and work on being business friendly.

Steve

Yes, with all that being said, you still never answered any of the posters questions.

Does it bother you that people are able to "blast" anything they want on a forum.

Guess its not the same as being able to control what people say during "town meetings" too then.

Sounds like "free-speech" is bothersome to you.

Nice of you to dodge the questions presented to you on this forum by complaining about "blast" in a public forum.

You should of taken care of the Water issue a really long time ago. People have been very sick from it and the list has continued to grow. What happens when you are being sued by many due to the illnesses caused from your water and knowingly did nothing to shut it down for the safety of the people? Not to mention the Police Department and no telling how many lawsuits building on that issue of unnecessary use of force and harassment that they have used on many, many, many, many citizens. The age of cell phones and recording devices are going to tell all of how police have used their positions to bully and disrespect citizens. I or no one else can be disrespectful to others when on the job and that needs to apply to policeman. Its bullshit and you need to change it.

The only reast to meet is so you can have your goon sqad "deal" with me in person. Its the nature of you, the beast.
Why don't you address anyones questions on why the water has been bad for years and the complaints of excessive force by your officers?
Why do you keep ignoring the questions Steve?
I'm not intersted in having a one to one with you, that defeats your "purpose" of an forum doesn't it?
Your kind always resort to going behind "closed-door in order operate without judgement of your peers.
What happened to your platform of operating with transparancy in City affairs
Seems to me, that you would want to clear up these questions in the OPEN.
Still waiting for the answers to questions at hand Sincere Steve.

First of all no one person in the City Council does anything alone.
We have a Strong City Manager form of Government.
Improvements to the Water system are new slip line to the Okmulgee Lake.
New Water treatment injection system.
Upgrades to the water Treatment Plan for a larger capacity and cleaner water.
Water to the Rural Water Systems does not go through our city distribution system.
Now our problems are the at distribution system. We have just completed a comprehensive study on our system and are moving forward on replacing water mains. This will cost millions of dollars which we donít have so we will pay as we go. We are looking for grants and other forms of funding.
Lack of money is the reason the water system has not been updated. The city lives on sales tax and the economy has been pretty slow. We had worked on the storm water system, Sewer System, Water Treatment System and now we are moving to the Water Distribution system.
On the Police issues I donít have any information on that. So I cannot comment on that.

Steve

I don't drink coffee and that is what we are doing now..........discussing the issues that have faced Okmulgee for A LONG TIME. I myself have never claimed to have all the answers, but I do have common sense and that goes a long way. How do you not have any information on the Police department? Everyone has complained about them. Are you hiding under a rock or what?

When I first took office I did ride with the Police and visited every department but was soon told that was not in my authority as a Councilman. Our form of Government is Strong City Manager Council. The Council does not hear about day to day events in the City. We do get calls from Citizens of Okmulgee and we address those issues as they arise. I had not heard about the issues your refering to with the Police. Believe me that is not because I am under a rock. I am very active in Okmulgee. That is one reason I am posting on this Forum.

So, first you know nothing about Police Problems, and now you know "something". Both posts can't be true which makes u lying about the issue and ignoring it.

If somebody lives a clean life, how would they every know about police corruption, and/or, have great issues with it? I don't know anybody that complains about the police, but then again, they are the type of people, that never have to answer to see them on a regular basis. I'm thinking this negative posters have some deep seeded issues, wth the poice, based on personal experience. Maybe the posters need to examine why that have so many dealings with the police.
