I am planning on coming to Destin May 19th and I don't know if I should cancel my vacation. I can't find much information online and of course the lady I am renting my condo from doesn't want me to cancel. Any help would be appreciated!
Hi, I am down here now from Oklahoma, you are blessed to have gotten a reservation in May, as destin is a hard place to book a nice place. I have seen NO oil what-so-ever. You will see people spamming on this site so you will go vacation a beach in another State. Please dont listen to anyone that is telling you there is oil here, there is NOT- you can always call the Chamber of Commerce and find out what you need to know.
I am vacationing now at a condo in Ft. Walton beach (Okaloosa Island)it has a private beach, I can see the water from here, it is 50 ft to the boardwalk to the beach (within 300 ft) and the water is Emerald green and the sand is white as Destins. I can send you photos of the place I am staying if you want- it is within an hour from Destin. I hope you keep your plans you will be soo glad you came!

We just returned from our week long vacation to Destin and we absolutely loved it! The sand was as white as snow and the water was crystal clear! It was definitely the most amazing trip we have ever been on and WILL go back this year regardless of the oil issue. As of yesterday the beaches and water were still absolutely perfect. I believe you may be wasting a wonderful vacation if you cancel now! Good luck to all!

Where were you at the beaches in Destin are so nice and clean we were even out on Sunday at crab island in the rain it was beautiful still. The water was crystal clear and the Crab Island was so warm. The pass at Emerald was so nice and the sand was beautiful!!
