Exactly, you ever wonder why they have those workers wearing full protective suits…it’s to keep them from a lawsuit later…..

The water and the beaches are just fine in Destin. We just got back today and there was no oil, tarballs or smell, there was seaweed but we still went swimming in the gulf. We had a blast. Glad we did not cancel.

The beaches are fine. There are a few tar balls however where we stayed but I am talking just a very few and that was just one day that we saw. They have people hired to walk and search for these. I am glad we went and I would stay a month if I didnt have to go to work. I just hope that this does not come out bad. So if you are planning a vacation then I would suggest to keep it. That is if it dosent change for the worst.

Just came back from Destin, Miramar Beach. Oil showed up on the beach on Wednesday (6/23) around 1pm. They cleaned up all the tar balls found in the sand pretty regularly, but those in the water are still in the water. The tar balls are small, like pebbles, and they are like seashells where they were washed ashore by the waves and they sunk to the sand.

They don't break easily, but they can break of course. We went swimming and none of us got any oil on us. We just stepped over the tar balls along the shores and got into the water. The algae was a lot more troublesome. They are everywhere and you can't avoid them unless you go further out.

We were initially disappointed that the oil reached the beach, but actually, it didn't bother us too much. There were no fume that I could smell. The cleanup crew didn't have any 'protective' gears. They just all wore green t-shirts.

Thank you for your honest opinion, Angel. Our family reunion of 17 people will be there in a couple weeks and are glad for any honest opinions about the oil on Destin beaches. We will go regardless, but would like to know what to be prepared for...thanks

Has anyone seen any of my dead kin wash up onshore? I heard Paula Dean was buying them and making them all up in special Castrol Oil based gravy.

Everybody that has posted their opinions thus far are all wrong except Lucas. Here it is June 23rd, 2013. I was a BP Contractor that worked the Spill Cleanup in August 2010 and I am suffering and very sick from handling not only the oil and Dead Sea Life on the beach, but also from the deadly Corexit dispersant they were spraying out of military aircraft up and down the coastline right over the spill workers and tourist swimming and playing in the oil. All the beaches should have been restricted to any tourist and all locals. It should have also been restricted to the Spill Workers as well since BP did not and was too cheap to provide the spill workers with the proper safety equipment and breathing respirators to protect us from the highly toxic oil and the dispersant. We were told by BP to tell anyone who asked if the oil was safe that it was harmless as well as the dispersant mist you could breath in right after the planes dumped it on the coastline to break up the bigger oil slicks before they made landfall on the beach. I feel sorry for all the innocent children and parents, myself, the oil spill workers and the wildlife that will ultimately suffer and die because of the Government and BP's negligence and knowingly using a Deadly Corexit Dispersant, that mixed with the oil, made it a 100 more times lethal. Anyone out there suffering from this needs to email me so as a group with my attorneys can go after BP.
