We are at Henderson Beach State Park and the June grass is unbelievable and we did see the paper looking sand like they talked about in the video. We thought it was very strange, too.

I guess that could be a possibility, but I really don't know. The water seems to feel warmer than we remember, too. I don't know if the difference in temperature could cause more to grow, like with algae (I think it grows more in warmer temps). Hopefully it will subside soon.

It looks yucky does it stick to you while you are out in the water? We are coming on the 20th how for down does this go? We are also going to sea crest for a few days too.

It comes every year about this time, but it did seem more concentrated this year when we were there last week. It clouded the water to a point where you could not see the sand when only past your ankles.

It washes off easily but will build up in any pockets or crevices if you stay out in it very long. If you swim out to a sandbar, it hardly is there at all.

We just got back from Miramar Beach on Sat. June 19th, the june grass was pretty bad, we were there for a full week and had only one good day of clear water. There was also standing water that was in front of our house.... this smelled terrible. Our local neighbors said is was worse this year than other years??

I was in Fort Walton from the 17th - 24th. June grass was pretty heavy when we first got there on Saturday. By Tuesday it was swimmable and by Friday is was almost non-existent.

I'm on the beach now and the grass is awful. You can't even swim without getting it all over you. My first trip to Destin and I'm not impressed. I'm usually on the eastern seaboard and wish I was there this year.

Left Destin Saturday, June grass was everywhere along the Destin beaches. Really nasty, like swimming in snot !!! This along with big patches of seaweed made the beaches pretty crappy. We did find one that was great, the Air Force beach just across the bridge was great, but not everyone can use it.

Yeah June grass is awful. First time in 3 years conning here that I would rather be in the pool then the ocean. Hopefully it gets better throughout the week.

The ocean is basically not swimmable right now.

I just want to thank all the people who stayed home because of all the different reasons (oil, june grass, smell? of oil). We just got back from a WONDERFUL 9 days. Not crowded-walked into all restaurants with no 1 1/2 hour waits and got into others with same day reservations. Even Silver Sands was not crowded-except for the always crowded Polo store! If you still can, get down to the beach this summer. Next summer it will be back to all the craziness with Moms pushing strollers and too many people on the beach with rugrats!! Again, thanks to all you people that did not do your homework and stayed home. BEST VACATION IN YEARS!!!!!!!!

Actually, the people that DID their homework are not here. Wish I had known about the June grass because I would not be here. Hell I can shop anywhere. The beach sucks.
Screw the oil, the grass is reason enough not to come to this place again.

The water is pretty nasty here in Seagrove Beach with the june grass. It has gotten worse and worse each day. Not sure why. We were here last year and there was no june grass at all. If you are thinking of coming wait and see what happens with the grass!

Wow I was told that it would go away by the first of July. Wonder why it is so bad? Wonder if Clearwater st pete is better? maybe we may have to go further on down south. Nothing worse than a dirty beach.

Dear Vacationer, it's the ocean, not a swimming pool...sometimes its has stuff like grass or jellyfish...thanks for not coming back! Where we were there was very little grass. I have seen the water much clearer in my 27 years of coming...but as we say a bad day on the beach is better than any day at work! Some people like you just need to find another sandbox to play in. Again, thanks for not coming!
