OK folks, here it comes! Spending will be cut - unemployment, medicaid, medicare, food stamps.
You will get your mandantory sonograms for women seeking an abortion (unfunded mandate), foreclosures will skyrocket and your taxes will go up as your property values plummet. One thing you can be sure of - the salaries and perks of our 'holier than thou' government will continue to increase - after all, you couldn't expect the "belt tightening" to include them.....

You forgot to mention that in Scotts 7 year plan, there is also a call for the abandonment of 'corporate income taxes', which means the corporations get the breaks while you the taxpayer gets tin increases in spending. You will spend more and get less.

Otherwise, good observation "Tom".

Only in a state littered with such a high concentration of geriatric geezers could a Medicare bandit like Rick Scott win election as governor.

Politicians are supposed to work for US. The People. We need to hold them accountable. Keep your eyes open. Keep yourself informed. Give Mr Scott a chance, but not a second chance unless it is earned.

You don't get it? Governments are all about control. The question is this how much control over your life do you want government to have? The greatest danger of government is one party total control. This leads to ramming through bills with out reading them by so called representives who only represent the Party not the people who placed them in office! This danger of extreams exist on the Republican far right and the demacratic far left. There for keep both Parties to where nither can have total control ever! The people have just done that very thing. Evidently "we are not all socilest as Nancy thought.

It is not a matter of "supposed to work for US.", They do work of us. It is the duty of each man and woman to monitor the affairs of that government and to pull in the reigns when we see something going on that has not met with the approval of the PEOPLE.. We, the Private Sector have forgotten our responsibilities else we have cast those responsibilities on the shoulders of the Public Servant and that Public Servant has allowed his/her sense of authority go to their heads. We the People, must reclaim our rightful place at the head of government and enforce our will upon the public servants as opposed to the servants dictating to us what will be done.

We need people that are able to voice their concerns and voice those concerns within the parameter established by us, the People, as we are the 'law-makers'.

Well stated ... and I think you catch the proper "flavor" or hint of paranoia ... a real legitimate fear among citizens that they will not properly "balance" the graspy control-freak desires of professional politicians. It's a terrible thougfht -- that we must delicately balance the Gub'mnt terrorists we elect.

As I remember LIJ has posted some careful thoughts on the balance-of-power inherent in the American Constitution and on schemes citizens are forced to create.

We have only changed the criminal in charge. My question is,how can a man SOOOOOOO corrupt not be in prison?
Secondly,if this man scott is willing to spend $75 million of HIS money, you know he is going to get it back some how, some where. He is after something bigger than $75 million.
But I guess white collar criminals are more protected by the law.

What suggestions would you make that "we must delicately balance the Gub'mnt terrorists we elect"? In other words, what methods would you suggest that "we" employ in ensuring that 'balance'?

We really need to tell the UN to butt out of our nation, close the boarders, export the illegals, take gun control out of anything they have put it in and lower our taxes. I just got my tax bill and it is outrageous.
There is truly strength in numbers. We need to storm the state house with emails and phone calls when the new ones get in and telll them to stop the madness.
Who are they to tell us that we have to use only the items they say, who are they to tell us what to eat, drive or spend? Who are they to tell us what is right for US. They do not have that right. They never did. Some liberals got on the band wagon and are ruining our country. So now we have then living our lives for us. WE THE PEOPLE, have to follow their every move and vote to ensure they are looking out for us, REALY looking out for us. Don't wait until the next election to bitch. Do it as soon as you see it happen. Talk about it openly, don't be politically correct. Don't care what some others may think of you and your stand.
I refuse to give up my freedoms, money and guns to a prez that is a Marxist. Socialism does not work. islam does not work in this country. Muslims need to assimilate to our laws and rules, we don't submit to sharia. The same with the mexicans. Either become legal the right way or stay the heck out. I am not going to pay your way.
"OK gang, we have new people in power. Lets see what happens before you burn them at the stake."

lol hypocrite neocon because you did not feel that way when the Dems were voted in.

I for one am going to email my reps and want Scott and Rubio fought on all their extreme right wing agenda much as you GOP did with the dems.

Simple. To amass the $75 million you speak of, a man or woman would have to have a good working knowledge of the corporate structure and how the corporation works (the ins and outs of high commerce). Once that type of funding is invested, the Corporation is obligated to protect the Corporation at all costs. His protection was guaranteed by the investment. The higher prize that is potentially being looked at is the 111 Billion dollars in assets belonging to the State of Florida and its' employees.

God point Abe......State pension fund is the next target. They {the corporate world} have already wiped out private sector pensions and subbed with phony 401k plans and we all know what came of that.I hope people notice those matching funds have rapidly decreased over the last ten years....Good luck to state employees. Scotty is at the controls now.."grabbing hands grab all they can".."everything counts in large amounts"

Media reports routinely say Scott’s Columbia-HCA Corp.“systematically” defrauded the federal government — never citing evidence that it was proven Scott or his fellow senior managers condoned or even hinted at perpetrating the alleged fraud, never citing evidence of malice and premeditation by Scott. In last week’s gubernatorial debate, Democratic candidate Sink simply repeated the mantra:“I can’t think of anything more frightening,” she said.“He led a company with the most massive Medicare fraud, cheating seniors and taxpayers … The people of Florida cannot trust you at all.”
To be expected, the state’s biggest newspapers dug into the scandal. They reported, although downplayed, that Scott was never charged with any crimes nor investigated. The Miami Herald said “federal investigators found that Scott took part in business practices … that were later found to be illegal”— citing no evidence of Scott’s personal involvement nor noting that these “practices” were widely accepted in the industry until federal regulators changed the rules.
As newspapers often do, The Miami Herald, unable to convict Scott in print, resorted to a standard journalistic practice — raise doubt in readers’ minds about Scott’s character and attribute this opinion to “experts.” Wrote the Herald last June:
“Whether or not Scott was aware of his company’s questionable conduct, the breadth of the problems raises questions about Scott’s leadership, management experts say.”
But if you talk to the people who worked at Scott’s side during his tenure as Columbia-HCA’s CEO, former Columbia-HCA board members, as well as outsiders whose companies did business with Scott or sat on opposite sides of a negotiating table with Scott, the picture of Rick Scott is far different from the one Scott’s political opponents and mainstream media have depicted.
• Stephen Braun, Columbia-HCA’s general counsel who has known and worked with Scott for nearly three decades:“He’s as honest as a Boy Scout.”

Alex Sink sank lies into all of you. Rick Scott was never charged, convicted of anything because it was found illegal after his COMPANY, not HIM, his company dug into it. He stood up for his company and had to resign. All Scott did was do the right thing and take blame for what his company did, while not knowing it was illegal. Read the article democrats! As for Sink, glad she lost! She cheated people out of many jobs, including a person I know. She just isn't cut out to govern Florida. This is a very liberal blog, but wanted to post the FACTS about the so called "scandal".

Fiscally responsible? are you crazy? It was a Republican Congress that passed Medicare B or D or whatever it is without funding it. How responsible was George Bush when he was sending planeloads of cash to Iraq, so much money that they couldn't be bothered to count it they weighed it instead.
The fiscally responsible Republicans were Gingrich, Tom Delay and Dick Armney. Strange how they were ALL forced out of office by the corporate media in favor of big spnding neo-cons like Bush/Cheney.

Remember, that it was under the leadership of Newt Gingrich, with the cooperation of Bill Clinton, that the US got its budget under control.

I'm sure you are aware of the Tea Party movement which is fighting against the GIGANTIC DEFICITS of Bush/Obama. And it is that same corporate media that forced Newt out, that is now denigrationg the Tea Party movement. Coincidence???

I believe that Scott is part of the fiscally responsibly crowd, but we shall see.
