While I am not dismissing the fact that a childs life has been taken. Whether it was by the hand of his father or by the hand of a gang. I too live in Desoto and my child goes to the same school, and I have recently learned that my son is/was being recruited for a gang, or gang related Activity. I just withdrew my child from this school. This thing is real, and I do agree that the media will crucify you before they have all the facts. If you notice the media will never go back and correct their story, they just tell a new one.
I've been active in the DeSoto School District and community for many years and there has never been any report of "gang activity". These are young kids with nothing else to do trying to start some little fake gang. Desoto is not a high crime area and never have been. So I am disagreeing with you on that particular statement. I too had daughters to go to the same school he attended and they are in Desoto High School with no issues. EVER.

Lets all come together and pray for all families and all children..The enemy is coming in like a flood and trying to take the minds of not only our children but the parents as well. We are lacking self control because there are so many other things in life that got our backs to the wall, so when an issue arises we don't know how to deal with it. God is still in control no matter how bad the situation is, we dont know why these things happen, but we all better come together everyone that believes in Our Lord and Saviour and bow down on our knees and ask God to come in and protect us from this evil and corrupt world..

How blessed you are to have had and raised angels. I rejoice and praise God with you in that, because we are living in the last days where the bible says that it will be sons against fathers and fathers against son. This is a fulfillment of prophecy. It does not matter how good of a parent you are and how you keep your kids in church sometimes the peer pressure over ruled what we try to do in raising our kids the proper way. Let's admit it... things are different today than they were when we raised. We did not have gangs to threatened us into becoming a part of them and jumping us to get out. Even today our kids try to fight us if we come down too hard on them. I have a cousin who is a minister and so is his wife. They are excellent God fearing parents who raised their kids in the church and teaches them to be wholesome and have a equally balance, but the have one 14 year-old son that refuses to right. He did not become this way until about 2 years ago. He skips school, lies, tries to smoke and even tries to get in his parents face when they try to correct him. IF this man is guilty of his son's death then he needs to pay, but I agree with Jones that we shouldn't take the news at face value. They are known to get things twisted. Instead of judging this father and his family, can we just pray for them and other families that may be going through the same thing. Only God and those who were there know what really happened. All of you be blessed!
I have found that this type of upbringing can fail miserably, causing the child to go totally opposite of what the parents want them to be. Of the Out of Control kids at the schools I attended growing up, most came from just this type of Bible-Thumping household. The more they were controlled the more they wanted to rebel and act out.

I am at my daughters school daily.Like I said before I volunteer for several organizations at the school. Maybe it it is the children your child takes time up with. I didn't say it was perfect but it is not the way you are making it out to be.Honestly, I don't see that type of stuff at Desoto High School. I beg to difer....DeSoto is a lot better than Oak Cliff. Maybe if the people that don't live in DeSoto stop bringing their kids to our schools they would be better.

One thing I will not do is get into a debate with you are anyone else here about this. However, I will say that I know this family and have known Jonathon all of his life. His father DID NOT cause his death. To answer your question about the God that I serve, worship and honor... He is the KING OF GLORY! When the evidence that the media has not told surfaces and Mr. Potts is exonerated, let's see how foolish you feel in talking what you don't even know. I mean miss me with that, and while you are doing it.... READ YOUR BIBLE!!!! Grace and peace!!!!

New marks and old marks, dried blood, cause of death blunt force trauma.....hummmso he didn't cause the kids death? Get real buddy. You teach the rest of the flock to beat (oops, I mean 'punish') thier children also? How much did Terence A. Potts weigh? Guy looks like a lineman on a football team. Don't you tell people not to raise your hand in anger? Sounds like he wasn't listening to you if you do. What was the mother doing while the kid got beat? If she was just standing by then she ought to have charges too, right? Injury to a child? I doubt he meant to kill the boy either - but it was the end result. I hope you can help the family and at the same time adjust your attitude on punishment in anger.
