Cameras will be placed everywhere in the city and that is good money making machine for the city and the camera company as well. Why a "No turn on red" sign will not take care of the problem if they are looking for safety of everybody, but that is not their aim, only revenue! Who knows this Camera Flash won't be health hazard in the future?? Policy makers should think of it..

This is my answer to the policy makers in the city of Rosemontand other neighbouring cities, Big brother, please stop telling citizens this is a safety issue and say that this camera is like a goose laying $1 million in golden eggs every few months. Why do you have took down a Camera at Schaumburg near Woodfield Mall recently? Have you investigated on the health hazzard the flash light rays can cause to the driver and passengers?? finally You are a loser when nobody turns into the Rosemont theatre and convention centers and after all you get only $30 on a ticket and balance you part with the Camera company. Moreover, someone might sue you for an accident occured at an intersection as the camera flash light can blind a driver for a while???

I just got one at Higgin and Mannheim for 100.00. I am trying to do research to fight it, but from now on...I'll be the guy who sits at the light and waits for it to turn green. I have more time than money, I hope you do too if you are stuck waiting behind me.

As mentioned in several of the other posts, the point here is not about "getting caught" - I was "caught" with my car 1/2 over the line with another 100 ft to the road. Fine - and I am paying it (so to speak). Thankfully, I can afford it and have nothing to whine about. The real issue is that this is not about safety but revenue collecting for the gated police-state community of Rosemont. If anything, by removing human judgment, this makes traffic stops more sudden and decreases safety - hence why other communities are quickly taking these down (can we say pending class-action lawsuits??). To that end and until then, I will protest Rosemont's gated police state in a very simple and easy way by taking my business dinners, lunches, fuel stops, fast-food stops, and recommended hotel stays to out-of-towners across the road to Des Plaines and other. I know the line items here and the lost tax revenue will manyX take away the $30 or so Rosemont gets from my ticket (with very little effort on my part). Poor business move (and that's all it is) Rosemont. When you take down these unsafe "toll booths", let us know and we'll think about coming back.

If they were concerned about safety, they would install a proper red light at that corner rather than a camera. It also appears that they removed the "no turn on red" sign from the right side of the road,(Where it was visible), and left the one on the left where it is not very noticeable. This has nothing to do with safety. Anyone with an ounce of brains can see that. It's all about greedy government stealing money from the people they invite into their city. I tried to find the emails of the village trustees responsible for this sham, but they are too cowardly to publish them. I will be sure to wait the obligatory 5 seconds at each stop light in IL from now on.

Lights change from green to red before I get half way through the intersection North bound Mannheim to west bound Higgins. Beware, RPD please do something about it. Not fair

Hey folks, remember, it's always about the money.
That said, I for one WILL NOT be doing anymore business in Rosemont. I liked the restaurants and the Movieco theater located there but...their red light cams are going to kill off trade from the locals and surrounding areas. So do ya think they'll care? HAH! They've got a little monopoly working for themselves. Again, as always, it's the money! Let 'em gouge the out of towner trade, cause they ain't gonna see me no more! Shootin' urselves in the foot Rosemont!

I've stayed at the Sheraton on this corner two nights a week for the past 12 weeks, and I eat at the restaurants over by the arena. I just received a right turn on red ticket for the corner of Mannheim and Higgins...1.3 seconds after the light turned red. Hell, I wasn't looking at the light over my left shoulder...I was looking at the car in front of me and the traffic coming down Higgins. There is a damn merge lane here, which implies that a right turn on red is a normal thing to do, even more so than in normal American intersections without a merge lane.

Suffice it to say, I plan to move further away from O'Hare (outside of Rosemont) for my hotel stays and dining. This is the biggest rip off I've encountered. This has nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with ripping off unsuspecting out-of-towners.

This is all about revenue. If you think about all the revenue that is generated by car related activity.(red light violations, accidents, DUIs, licensing, insurance, gas and maintenance on vehicles.etc.) It might be cheaper to hire a car service when absolutely needed. I wish I could figure out a way not to drive. I've been hit by that right turn red light violation at Higgins & River. It's a sad state of affairs when you long for the days of being hassled by an actual cop where there was a possibility of talking your way out of a ticket. Do we really want to encourage a society where all your actions are being filmed and evaluated and every slight "1.3 second mistake" is being capitalized upon? Would it be so bad if gang bangers actually made themselves useful and shimmied up the pole and spray-painted the lens of those cameras instead of my garage? Of course it would! that's illegal to go purchase black spray paint and spray paint those cameras. I wouldn't want anyone spray painted the lenses of those cameras. Would you want to see the lenses spray painted with black paint in the middle of the night? I wouldn't want to see them spray painted with black paint so citizens wouldn't get those violations. That would be wrong to collectively gather a few hundred dollars and pay "criminals" to climb up there in the middle of the night and spray paint those cameras with black paint. I think FOXNEWS told me that black opaque spray paint is evil!

Blame goes to Saviano and other political insiders
See Illinoisreveiw 7-13-2009.They got the bill passed at lighting speed after the train and car accident on grand.
Then all the insiders or the insiders freinds became consultants and investors in this money stealing machine
