Lutherans to allow sexually active gays as clergy

The nation's largest Lutheran denomination took openly gay clergy more fully into its fold Friday, as leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America voted to lift a ban that prohibited sexually active gay and lesbian people from serving as ministers. Full Story

The Catholics have had gays in the priesthood for years, but "openness" never was practiced, and they still do not acknowledge their presence in the priesthood. Now that the Lutherans have caught up, how are they going to handle those that may have a propensity to exploit the young and innocent? Will they just transfer them around when they are exposed?

Are there any bets on how long this straightforward, truthful post will stay on this forum before our friends in the Roman Catholic Church have it excised? Media censorship no longer focuses upon profanity, but upon political correctness at the expense of enlightenment.

It is sad that "polical correctness" has now infected the Lutheran church... will no one stand for what is right anymore? "Woe to those who call evil right..."

Is the Bible just a book written by mortals or is it the Word of God? If it's just a book, then so be it. Do as you please. If it's the Word of God, then when it says it's wrong for men to sleep with men, it is wrong for men to sleep with men. The ELCA leadership evidently no longer believes the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible teaches to love the sinner, but hate the sin. By having practicing homosexuals ordained, they are condoning the sin. Will they next allow practicing murderers to be ordained? Will they stop teaching the 10 Commandments or that Christ rose from the dead? Why teach anything in the Bible, if you OBVIOUSLY don't believe it? By staying with the ELCA you are accepting this Political Correctness and this NON-BIBLICAL act..........and that's your choice..........after all, the Bible is just a book, right? May God help the ELCA.

This is utter confused leadership. This particular group of lutherans are probably infiltrated with closet gays. It is immmoral to condone actively practing gays in a "spirirtal" leadership role. Most,if not all gays, are hostile to church, and Christ (I don't think Lutherans are "Christian")yet they are infiltrating leadership positions ONLY to push their agenda and lifesyle. It is sacreligious. That is a nauseating sexual lifestyle to flaunt from a pulpit. Most of the gays are angry, athiestic aggressive ,mentally confused people. How do they end up as "spiritual" leaders. Even businesses don't hire people that don't fit the job descrition if they don't have the skills and abilities to do their job. Having gay sex doesn't fit the description of a clegy member. That Lutheran group is a cult not a church.

The one rule that the Catholic Church needs to update is allow straight marriage and thorough screening of applicants to weed out gay or pedophiles from becoming priests (same for educators at public schools) who are predators using their position to find easy victims. Some predators and deviants are free to live their lifestyles in their own homes but not to get into professions that they have no business in. It is grounds for lawsuits when they violate acceptable standards of conduct just to satisfy their sexual addictions.

So what do the Lutherans do about the Bible? Did they rip out certain politically incorrect pages? Lutherans obviously do not believe what's in the Bible so they really ought to be honest and get themselves a new book of some kind and come up with a different god to worship.

I think there's some ancient Greek god they could worship, or some pagan goddess.

Jefferson took a razor to the mythical portions of the bible. Seems to me if homosexuality was something of importance, Jesus would have at least mentioned it.

I don't agree, and this is not considered politically correct. I thought the Lutheran Church adhered to a higher standard, God's.

Hate the sin, not the sinner, but Jesus would say "go and sin no more", not what the Lutheran church is doing now which is condoning the act.

I am confussed, it also stated gay women can not be clergy. However, the Bible states, you MUST be a MAN of one Wife.
1 Timothy 3
1This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
