That money was not used by Burghoff to renovate the restaurant but transferred to another Burghoff controlled bank account at National City Bank St. Louis Business Journal - Lisa R. Brown Matt Burghoff, a developer who has completed commercial projects in Kirkwood and downtown St. via Bizjournals

Well, his HUGH home on Jefferson in Kirkwood is up for sale. And now all of a sudden he's becoming MIA. Wonder who's doing jail time now mr. burghoff.(what a pathetic terd!)

Matt Burghoff is not a good person. He will do anything it takes to get to the top. Realizing full well that he is hurting the innocent people he steps on. Matt Burghoff deserves what is coming to him.

I heard through the grapevine he stole from his own brother years ago. I truly feel badly for his brother who is an extremely hard worker. Matt cuts corners and destroys families.

Matt is one of the most despicable and self absorberd people I know. No one who knows him well will be surprised that his greed led him to this point. And if I know Matt well, he is hunkered down in some corner only worrying about himself, not his kids, not the innocent people he abused along the way, just his own pathetic self. Yeah the british observer comments were hard to take on a couple of levels. Where does this British yahoo get off lecturing Americans about individual rights!! I think he is forgetting several centuries of history, and by the way british dude, innocent until proven guilty, was invented here in the US. Also if you had read most of these posts, it came from us who had first hand observations of his crookedness. You probably met him at a bar near his home in Mexico where he smuggled his money to. I can't believe you would trade that drunken exchange over our own experiences.

This is an unfortunate turn of events. Responding to What a Jerk's post, This was true to the best of my knowledge. Russ Burghoff worked very hard to build that business,, even to the day he fell ill. I was young when Matt split from his brother. We knew then that something was not right. I can say that I was shocked to hear about this, I guess i shouldn't have been. He did help out when there was need however. So his family will be supportive as best as they can.

UPDATE:
Burghoff, 45, could get 24 to 30 months in prison under federal sentencing guidelines for the two charges: bank fraud and violating the clean air act, but he may face less if he is able to provide information in an unspecified "ongoing investigation."

My comments:
Apparently, Matt can't "take it like a man"... He's squealing like the slippery pig that he really is and will try to take someone - ANYONE - down with him.

Anyone care to make the odds that he's a "no show" at the sentencing hearing?

In response to notsurprised, WOW you have no idea what you are talking about. I have known the entire family, personally and professionally for the past thirty plus years, and Matt's dad was one the the most honest, decent people I know. Why don't you leave the dead alone, since he can't defend himself. It is not "like father like son." Matt's choices were his own, and he will have to face the consequences. I am so glad his dad is not alive to see what is happening, or to read comments from ignorant people such as yourself. Shame on you!

I don't even want to respond to the other false statements you have posted here because they are not worth my time. But I would just like to say that your comments are the most pathetic thing I've seen in a long time and that I know 9-year-olds who don't even call people "terds." Please don't go making rash assumptions and false judgements before you know all of the facts.
