For some reason I think they need to use a few more test subjects. I've seen people high on that stuff and some of them couldn't even find their mouth to stick the joint in... so yeah... I'm not 100% convinced of the validity of this study.

Study: Pot Has "Little Effect" on Driving Skills-

Just the Facts:
•A new study finds that marijuana has little effect on simulated driving skills.
•It did find that drivers were more easily distracted when under the influence.
•Researchers studied the driving performance of 85 people, using marijuana supplied by the National Institute of Drug Abuse and the University of Mississippi.

HARTFORD, Connecticut — Marijuana has little effect on driving skills, according to a new study by Hartford Hospital and the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Researchers hasten to add that this does not imply that it's safe to drive under the influence of the drug.

But they described the study results as "surprising," in a statement released by the hospital. The study has wide-ranging implications, especially in an era when the federal government has launched a massive crackdown on distracted driving.

Researchers studied the driving performance of 85 people, using marijuana supplied by the National Institute of Drug Abuse and the University of Mississippi, which they describe as "the only legal source of cannabis in the United States."

Rev, I think your MS has gone to your head because your arguement to make pot legal is so stupid. Your an idiot and enjoy the rest of your days.
thanks for your blessing....a lot of things go to your head, when you are at a higher level of consciousness. Also I am clean of any street drugs for over 10 years, and take no prescription medicine since 2004, when I was diagnosed. I live, breath, walk, talk, work, vote.

Esplain again please how my argument is stupid again.

Cannabis prohibition is medical terrorism and the president of the NAACP's California chapter can tell you,"We are joining a growing number of medical professionals, labor organizations, law enforcement authorities, local municipalities, and approximately 56 percent of the public, in saying that it is time to decriminalize the use of marijuana," state NAACP President Alice Huffman said in a news release Monday. "There is a strong racial component that must be considered when we investigate how the marijuana laws are applied to people of color."

Using it for medicinal purposes is one thing. Legalizing it and using it for recreational use is another. I know several people who had very adverse side effects from narcotics after having major surgeries, amputations, etc. Maybe medcicinal marijuana would have been a good alternative for them. I just don't think that I've heard any valid reasoning for legalizing it for personal use.

Another victim in the war on drugs. Did anyone prior to the raid know what these guys were up to aside from the police? Was it the excessive Doritos bags in the garbage tipping them off? Or was a fear of a population explosion of those who resemble the jocks that bullied them right into the police academies?! I imagine all those bloodshot eyed muscle-heads stopping by all hours of the night to get a shot and whacky protein brownies! As ridiculous as this sounds, so are all of these arrests.
I think the monies are better spent investigating those in power. Corruption seems to run amuk.
Look at Chet Culver himself! Just a few weeks ago on my blog and this site, I challenged he is paid by the growers in California to boost sales here. I have evidence and whitnesses to this effect. Glad he proved me right by busting a local grower who produce quality BC type bud. 70 dollars for just 4 grams. U do the math Iowa. Cops get to keep all their fancy stuff to sell. Legalize it!

One good reason to legalize it for personal use? The constituion! Where is it that grants the gov the powers to wage this war on it own population. Obama just ordered 46 warships and 7000 troops to Costa Rica with full wartime powers granted by the gov of Costa Rica to fight this "WAR ON DRUGS". He justifies this use of force by our MILITARY because they are operating under the authority of ther Coast Guard and not the Navy, so this use of power is allowed. Remember this is different than sending troops say to Colombia a foreign country. Whereas Costa Rica is one of our own territories. Now on TV13 the just spoke of the Coast Guard on patrol of Sailorville during the floods keeping boats off the lake.
Are you following me IOWA? And if Obama was serious then he would have sent these same assets to aid in securing our borders in the south. But this would give our local and Canadian growing brothers and advantage. Obama and Calderon will have none of that! So the Culver Obama Calderone colusion will continue in Iowa at gunpoint even gunships all over getting the munchies?

Don't give me this crap about how great pot is and how it is God's perfect drug. We were hit head on in a crash where someone was high on pot and it is NO different than drinking, prescription narcotics, etc. I think the person should have gone to jail long-term. If we would have actually been killed, he should have gone for life.
Pot is no laughing matter. It is serious business. It needs to be stopped and people need to be punished for having it, selling it, smoking it, or eating it.

Wow, there are some really moronic statements on here. People become cops because they were picked on in school? The cops take the fancy stuff and sell it back on the streets? Really?

I really don't care if they legalize MJ or not. I don't partake in it and never will. I know that there are some medical reasons to partake in it. It has been proven to relieve the symptoms of cancer related treatments and also for those who have MS. But the other arguments that it doesn't affect driving skills? WTF you honestly beleive that? If you do, I guess you need to clear your head from the bong resin and think about that.

By the way I am in law enforcement.

Yeah! And cocaine comes from the coca plant. Nothing wrong with that one. Or the poppy plant that they make opium from. It's natural, so it's good and healthy! Ooh, and don't forget those special mushrooms - they're harmless. I think I'll go find some toadstools to eat, now that I'm thinking of it. Maybe some belladonna berries as well. Perhaps I could dig up and digest my azaleas and daffodils.

You, sir, are quite intellectually challenged.

First, they are primarily Coast Guard ships, not 'warships'. They're not invading anyone. Next, you blithering idiot, Costa Rica is NOT 'one of our own territories'; rather, it is a soveriegn nation. Additionally, Obama has placed more assets on the U.S./Mexico border than your druggie comrade 'Dubya' ever did. It matters little, though, as the only real way to control illegal immigration is to go after the greedy bastards who entice them over the border by hiring illegal occupants at low wages.

Finally, what in the world does having the Coast Guard at Saylorville have to do with your drug-induced paranoia regarding the war on drugs? First, it's simply an 'auxiliary group'- their primary mission is water safety education. They don't even have any direct law enforcement authority. It's funny how you complain about any kind of government presence in the very same post that you complain enough isn't done to secure our country.

Please come down off your high before you reply. It would be interesting to hear the opinion of someone more coherent than you currently are.

until man's hand refines it whith other chemicals, then you get cocaine and heroin, the only ingredients a cannabis plant needs is soil, light and water.

Yeah, save us oh save us from the dangerous marijuana growers. You'd think in 2010, with half the country trying to legalize it, the police would be working harder to bust the REAL drug dealers. Meth and cocaine destroy more people in more ways than anything else and we never hear of a significant bust of that crap EVER. So good job task force, i feel much safer knowing that meth addicts are better at their job than you are at yours.

Do you even know why cannabis was declared illegal in 1937......blacks in dirty jazz clubs and latinos were demonized for using marihuana that led to it's prohibiton prior to 1937. Prior to that the world never had a problem with it.

Sorry bout the Costa Rica thing..which was on intentional to form a response, which only got one? Thinking must be the only one on tweek.I wanted to highlite the opposite of the statement so ya all get it and get it deep!!!! Why is the Coast Gaurd the going to Central America instead of the NAVY!! Isn't this like when GW my buddy sent National Guard troops to the Middle East? SO "Thinking" I had to bring your bvrain outta the Obama bong fog! Just a clever way of seeing if any are paying close attention. He should not be using our military for such a purpose. It's just weed! I can see if he want to employ an army of drug counselors but putting automatic weapons in the fight the those they are pointed at will also have theirs! Take the threat out and one would not need to be so defensive.
And just think of the rebellion factor. If all the adults thinks it's cool, it's just not fun anymore for the kiddies. They may turn out to be the best drug couselors yet!
Ya see in the 70s Nixon needed a way to control all the political rallies but could not because of the constitution prohibited him from sending in law enforcement. So Nixon said " Most of these Hippies smoke weed right?" So instead of arresting and creating political prisoners they were removed for pot charges with penalties he increased. Those he wanted to get rid did lengthy jail terms.
In addition I am soooo very glad then that Obama put an auxillary group in charged of the BP OIL SPILL!!! Obama on ACID??
