The news showed this terrible flood. The townspeople were out in masse, filling and stacking sandbags to protect their town. This is the kind on community spirit and responsible reaction to disaster that was missing in New Orleans. Pre teens to gray haired grandmothers were working as hard as they could to stem the rising waters. No one in Iowa was looting, or shooting at rescue helicopters, or blaming someone else for their problems.

Must be from a iceberg from the Artic circle that melted because Cheney and some Big Oil cronies had a bar-b-que on it eating baby seal meat. I am sure the global warming crowd will certainly blame this on Bushy somehow.

I applaud you people in Iowa for your consistent bravery. I only wish it was as forthcoming in other areas of the planet - we could learn a lot from you. My prayers are with you.

Thats the midwest mentality,,if you want it done ,do it yourself and if you see someone who cant do it,,help them and everyone works as a community!!!! thats what makes the midwest great, and we are smart enough to not want help from FEMA and notice how Wis. and Iowa are as bad as N.O. and the media isnt going ape sh(t about it.

And we shouldn't be drilling for more oil in Alaska. The pristine wilderness & wildlife should be preserved, and not scarred by short-sighted Republican supporters trying to find more oil and fatten their wallets. Money should be spent on non-polluting and renewable energy sources. Bush is the worst thing to happen to our national environment in the last 100 yrs. VOTE OBAMA!

Nothing. And how will he lower gas prices. Just another young Obama cultist that has no clue about what Obama plans besides raising taxes.

Get your facts right son.

We deserve high gas prices. We're still paying about 1/2 of what Europe pays. We got ourselves stuck in this gas-guzzling culture, and now we're paying the price. So stop your whining about high gas prices, there are much bigger concerns in the world. And it's hard for Obama to do anything when he's not even elected... YET!:)

I *will* qualify my statement by saying that Bush is the worst HUMAN-influenced thing to happen to our environment... his total lack of respect for nature & the environment is appalling. The last time I checked, Mt. St. Helens was a NATURAL disaster. Not man-made. LOL MS04...did you drop out of school in the 5th grade, or 6th?

You have no clue what the hell your talking about.....the price of gas in England, Germany and France is on average 1.35 per liter, 4 liters is slightly more then a gallon that would make it about $5.40 a gallon get your facts right.
