We recently moved here in rural Pocahontas county in Fonda in the fall of 2004 from Gilbert Arizona which is metro of Phoenix. We wnted out of the "rat race" and corporate world for a saffer and more quality lifestyle. My husband grew up in Fonda for a short time as a child so family was another reason for moving this way. We have a four year old child who we wanted a better life for as far as schools and low or no crime and the good people in this community. Our reasons for moving here have been good ones but also very challenging. With a layoff shorlty after moving here and a new direction in the job market than we trained in, it was enough to make you want to leave and head back. We stuck it out and so far things have worked out. Jobs "are" a major factor. The jobs are lower paying jobs here in this state as well so I feel this may keep many in the other direction or to leave from here altogether for better opportunities. many have so much debt that moving to a place that does not offer as much would not work for them financially. Coming from the big city so to speak, we miss things like fitness centers and closer stores and closer schools. One must weigh all the pros and cons to a big move for their situation and lives. One must see all the benefits as well. I feel if more was offered as far as pay scale and jobs to fit the needs of younger families without fear of layoffs/and no health insurance in this area, perhaps more would come. There needs to be more to offer. Thanks for letting me post this comment.

That area also needs to offer thinks like higher speed limits (105mph) and offer something the cities can't. Speed limit is one but how about something else....they need an idea
