I have a 5 step solution..
1. Legalize it and help them organize businesses.
2. Charge a high "pleasure tax".
3. Enact strict STD testing standards for prostitutes AND customers.
4. Each customer MUST provide a current picture id/Drivers License with verified address.
5. Oversight board conducts quarterly reviews of all businesses and calls or texts all customers for a "satisfaction survey".

Here's why it'll work.. Organizing businesses allows them to be transparent and opens them up to lawsuits from angry ex-wives. Pimps don't want it legalized because they don't want to pay taxes. Therefore, if they are found to operate illegally they will face very severe punishment. The testing standards along with the business setup and reviews will help keep the "workers" healthy, clean, and fairly paid. Plus, no married man will use this if he knows he has no privacy with having his ID verified, blood tested, and called 4x a year for surveys. That leaves only singles using this and I bet they'll stop once they get married.

@ Common Sense, "HE SHOOTS HE SCORES!!!!" The people who are actually willing to use services like this will find a way to get what they want regardless of what laws are enacted against it. Legalize it and restrict the living hell out of it. Even if it is legalized, I don't think it will ever become socially acceptable so I don't see why so many people worry about it. Furthermore, this isn't the same situation as you would have with drugs where their mind altering affects can put others in danger due to diminished mental capacity.

Now where can a guy find a good pro$titute these days? The government ran a wwhore house in Nevada once and it lost money. Only the government could lose money on a wwhore house.

I totally agree with Common Sense. Also, by legalizing it, you will create a safer working environment for the women involved because they will not have to rely on abusive pimps who steal most of their earnings and there will be less of a risk of women being abducted and harmed/murderd.

Did the reporter actually ask Tom Miller, "Would you say it's like an online game of whack-a-mole?"

The censorship of Craigs List sets another dangerous precident. Pre-emptive law doesn't work, it only creates more problems than it is intended to solve. Stick with crimes that punish for acts that have victims only and law would be enforcible and effective. What we have now is opportunity for government to jail almost anyone (the precursor to totalitarian rule), and real dangerous criminals who can't be brought to justice. The precursor to totalitarian rule. It's time we accept behavior we don't approve of as someone elses business.

Before this whole Craigslist debacle I didn't realize I could get so many prostitutes on the internet. If anything it's good publicity for online hooking.

Mr. Miller Is this just a political media blst in an election year. Yes you got Craig's list to censor the adult services section what about the personals on craig's list, Women seeking Man it shoes pics, gives phone # and rates. If you were so concerned why didn't you address this with Craig's list? Looks to me like Tommie wanted or needed some free press coverage 53 days before the voters clean house/

I'm sorry to see Craigslist bow to outside pressure to remove 'Adult Services' from there site. I've never been big on prostitution, but there are other concerns to be worried about. The United States used to care about something called "free speech". It used to be illegal for any one entity to own more than one news service in any given market. Now, since the Reagen administration, one entity can own as many outlets as they can afford. During the 80's and 90's there was a feeding frenzy in the U.S. with the larger companies gobbling up all the smaller news services. At this time, a HANDFUL of companies own all our nations major news services. Check it out if you don't believe me. The opportunity for the citizens of our nation to be spoon fed it's news has never been greater. The press used to be considered the 4th arm of government. Now it can be easily used by the government as a tool to shape public opinion.

The internet is our last bastion for truly free speech. Any censorship at all sets a bad precedent for the future. So we pressure Craigslist to censor adult ads now, what will be censored on the internet in the future? A great American once said, "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it."
