As some in the area may or may not be aware...Marcellus Shale Drilling is going gang busters in the Derry Twp. area. As I have posted before, there are 5 of the deep Marcellus Shale wells within a mile of my home and there are 5 of the shallow wells. Some people may not be aware that because there are no ordinances in place for this activity these drillers can put a drill as close to 200 ft from your home. Let me just say that we have one less than 800 ft from our home and that is simply too close. The noise, the lights and the smells is constant. 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They are preparing to frack the well across the lane from my home. Last night they turned on the biggest brightest spot light so they could work their heavy equipment ALL NIGHT LONG!!! The spot light is directly pointed into my home. Even with blinds drawn shut my home was well lit ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Between the noise and the lights...my family slept very little. I sent kids to school today tired and cranky because they were up and down all night. For me it's too late...for others it may not be. Contact your local officials and make sure ordinances are put into place to prevent this from happening to you. If they tell you there is nothing they can do...they are misinformed!!!

Actually, I'd have to agree with Nancy. Drive on Uschak Rd and if you make it out alive, you may understand the destruction that is going on without repercussions for the company. Township supervisors do NOT have an answer as to when the roads will be repaired, I called.

The wells are HUGE, loud, dirty, smelly, etc. Yes, a few individuals are 'rich' now -- but for knowing someone supposedly signed for a kickback on the drilling, they are still waiting on $ and have seen approx. 6 different wells in < 1 year.

Honestly...yes, I will get royalties for the gas drawn from underneath my property. Though nobody is able to say when or how much. My dismay comes from the fact that the person who owns the land which landed this gas well 800 ft from my front door was misinformed or uneducated to what would go on and how. Now myself as well as 5 or 6 homeowners are stuck with this mess 700 - 800 ft from our doors. I am not exaggerating when I say it is loud, smelly, and messy. I don't know if I am for it or against it, but my wish is that it would not be this close to ANY home. Take a ride after dark and see the lights. Roll down your windows and listen and ask yourself if you would want to listen to that around the clock? Make sure to check out the signs that are posted warning "DANGER...EXPLOSIVES ". Then take a good whiff of the air and ask yourself if you think that is something people should breath for long lengths of time. I got a letter from the gas company today informing me that the fracking operation nearest to my home will begin heavy operations the week of May 30 and continue for approximately a month. Meaning...for a month or more I will have the bright lights, noise and smells to deal with 24 hours a day 7 days a week. What a wonderful beginning to our summer!!!

Yeah, Everybody likes pie.

We also enjoy being able to sleep and breath!

I too am surrounded by idiots.

Not to sound paranoid but.....Did you ever wonder if the Saudi owners of our gas wells have been able to place remote explosives in each of those gas lines?? hmmm

Did you ever see the men at the well presently being fracked on Uschak Road dressed in the red hazmat looking suits? Has anyone else noticed how little activity we see during the day at times and then come night fall the big spot lights come on (right in my window) and there is a ton of activity. It all makes you wonder...

I'm not on Uschak but...I certainly know what you are talking about!!!

Things Really Did Cookin at night...I remember the huge very bright spot lights and the increased noise. I remember being upset because I couldn't sleep. Very interesting observation!
