Sorry for the remaining children, but what a stupid mother trying to PUSH a stroller across tracks while a train is bearing down. I am sure the train was visible and within earshot before she started such a stupid action.
How many ways can this company legislate against stupidity? Maybe her husband can sue her parents for giving her deficient genes? Or maybe the schools for not teaching her not to walk in front of trains? Or the train for coming?

Well I'm sure they're going to look for someone else to blame. They already are, and someone else to take care of the problem which is the people themselves crossing the tracks. How many people need to kill themselves before their neighbors figure out a train is going to kill you if you cross the tracks. Trains kill because they are big. Get it!!! You must walk over to the bridge and cross it. As far as a two yr old in a stroller?? for that matter the 2 yr old would probably have been able to run across faster had she not had it in probably strapped in the stroller. That would have left the dumb mother to take the consequences of her actions HERSELF instead of having her other 2 children watch her kill herself and the child. How awful for the other children.

There is no way a pedestrian can be unaware of the approach of a train, they make serious ground vibration as well as how loud they sound. I pity the engineer who will have to live with this, as a railroad brat I grew up hearing the trainman's side of these accidents.

I was raised in Derry and have lived here all my life. When I was young we had 7 lines running thru town and I can only remember a few instances of people getting killed by trains. Those were out of town. I knew if I got cought crossing the tracks I was in DEEP trouble. If I did I made sure to look both ways and check the lights to see if a train was near. You can also feel the vibration in the tracks if a train is coming. Also there are no curves on there tracks. You can see for a great didtance in either direction. It's about time people start using their heads and stpo trying to beat the train. If you can't sit down and wait for the train to pass, cross the bridge. Plans are in the work for a covered walk way to protect people who are too stupid to not walk in front of a train.

Mondays town meeting was good, lets build on the information from everyone, put the history lesson behnd us, make real plans that are achievable, short term, as well as long. Live and decide by the wishes of the people in our area. Money is not the real answer, and governing laws are in place, but our needs can be adapted to the common good. If an at grade crossing is desired, and and overhead is planned, or even an underground means is sought, well we can determine many different solutions to this means and method.

what are you thinking about there were two people that got killed hear. nothing to do with Bush or Obama please take some time just to think if it would have happen to one of your own family members would you still feel the same way. ITS so sad that some of us think so evil. Take some time today and pray and asked God to help you solve some issue that you have in your mine about people. Go help someone today, that needs a helping hand.

Regardless of what happens, when will the words "Personal Responsibility" be put in play. Every time you leave your house you have the potential to be killed. We all know to look both ways before crossing the road...seems like train tracks should be no different.

You're absolutely right DA. Train tracks are actually even easier to cross than a road...a train can't swerve and hit you.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
