There NNE states question FairPoint

Executives from FairPoint Communications Inc. told utility regulators from three states Wednesday that it will be another two months before the company has a clear plan to resolve its customer service, billing and other problems.

A nonprofit close to where I live is dumping Fairpoint for SVCable. SVCable will provide the same service for 1/3 of the price, and not because they are offering a "special" deal.

Fairpoint continued billing me for dsl AFTER I got my Fairpoint account entirely shut down (they told me "we can send you the signal whether you receive it or not"). My guess is they are out to gouge as much money as possible from the region while providing as little service as they can, then file Chapter 11 and run.
